About this listen
Jael Furyck is a warrior queen, fighting to save her family since she was ten years old. But what happens when she is taken prisoner and cannot fight at all?
Reunited with her husband after an epic battle in Alekka, Jael wants nothing more than to return to her island kingdom and start again. She first heads to Andala to pick up her children, only to have her plans upended by a dream revealing a horrifying future: her brothers dead, her daughter, even herself—all of the Furycks gone.
She seeks urgent advice from her grandmother—a better dreamer than she will ever be—soon discovering that she has mysteriously disappeared in Tuura.
As her dreams quickly become a nightmare threatening her entire family, Jael does what she knows best—she fights. Until she is caught in the web of danger and intrigue herself, torn away from everything she knows, from everyone she loves...
The Shadow Isle is the first book in the Fate of the Furycks series. Perfect for fans of action-packed epic fantasy, it weaves mysterious threads around epic battles, warring kingdoms, magical dreamers, and dangerous enemies intent on revenge. This series is set in the same world as the bestselling fantasy series, The Furyck Saga, but can be enjoyed independently. Intended for mature listeners.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Hello stranger, my name is Tal, and I’m not an adventurer—those people are crazy. I’m just a sorcerer who is masquerading as a wizard. Oh, and I’m searching for answers about my parents’ mysterious deaths. Also monsters and other foes seem to show up wherever I go. All right, I see it. My new traveling companions are seasoned adventurers and are teaching me their ways—or at least they were before something happened to Time.

Story
Dellaria Wells, petty con artist, occasional thief, and partly educated fire witch, is behind on her rent - again. Then she sees a “wanted” sign seeking Female Persons, of Martial or Magical ability, to guard a Lady of some Importance. Delly fast-talks her way into the job and joins a team of highly peculiar women tasked with protecting their wealthy charge from unknown assassins. Delly quickly sets her sights on one of her companions, the confident and well-bred Winn Cynallum. The job looks like nothing but romance and easy money until things take a deadly (and undead) turn.

Story
I was cursed. It wasn't an exaggeration. It wasn't even dramatics—though I was prone to those. It was a fact. And a sucky one at that. After inheriting my grandmother's home, I thought my luck had turned around. A fresh start in the one place where I'd found solace from my cruel father. But I was cursed, remember? So rather than a quiet life, I faced mysteries, con artists, disastrous dates, stoned witches, magicks, and evil organizations out to do evil things. And a house that was haunted.

In the past two years, I leveled up as a kick-ass urban druid and became the leader of the Fianna Warriors my ancestor Fionn mac Cumhaill needed me to be. The thing is—four months ago everything changed. The veil between realms came down. With dormant genes waking, the dominant races jockeying for their place in the hierarchy, and the world around us pulsing out of control with power, my position as the Fae Liaison of Toronto has gotten off to a chaotic start.

A jaded thief and an idealistic archaeologist form an unlikely partnership to solve an ancient mystery. Opposed at every turn by unknown forces, their journey takes them across 1880s Egypt in search of a lost temple to the other side of the universe, where magic is all too real. Being a foreigner's bastard, Louisa learned early to take from the world before it took from her. Like a whisper in the sands of time, a stolen letter hints at the unimaginable.

SO GREAT TO BE BACK IN JAEL AND ADELLA'S WORLD
ACTION, INTRIGUE, MAGIC, POLITICAL INTRIGUE, FASCINATING CHARACTERS! It's all here. I read the first series, and was so pleased when Jael and co turned up in The Lords of Alekka series, but I was over the moon to see A.E. Rayne is writing another series centered around the Furycks. i usually wait until a series is complete before starting because I hate cliff-hangers. But, in this case I couldn't wait. Now, like others, I am waiting for the next book... The narrator is above great. Love the way she gives each character a distinct voice.
