Publisher's summary

Art or atrocity? Francisco Booth is an infamous photographer known for pushing boundaries, yet it’s only the boundaries he pushes away from the public eye that satisfy his macabre appetite. But when he’s gifted an antique picture frame that contains a strange stock photo, Francisco’s life is suddenly turned upside down. Each time he looks at the picture, he sees something different. As the world around him grows more frightening and absurd, he finds himself questioning his sanity. Will the beautiful woman in the frame become his ultimate prize or the instrument of his undoing?

Good disturbing listen

First novel from this author. This story was not as "extreme" as I expected, and yet I still enjoyed the unique story.

Clive barker would bark up this tree!! Very good listen.

Excellent depictions and exquisite detail. The story was original and lacked any predictable tropes beyond my satisfaction. From start to end I was enthralled with what would become of the pro/antagonist.

An exciting thriller/mystery with just a dash of gore

Spoiler-free review: If you like Aron Beauregard’s books, you know he doesn’t skimp on the gore, grotesque, and sometimes grungy. But this story is a bit different. There’s definitely still some gore, but it’s “tame” in comparison to other writings he has put out into the world.
Aron describes the book as a nod to the Twilight Zone, and I would agree. I love his fast-paced style of writing and I can’t wait to read the other books in the series.

If you’re new to Aron’s work, and are unsure if you can handle good old-fashioned splatter-punk, give this series a try! It’s a good place to start if you want to ease into the genre :)

The gore is still there, it’s still weird in all the right ways, it’s still Aron-just a new avenue. So, if you’re a long-time fan, you still get the amazing storyline that you’re used to with his work.

Are you feeling “morbidly curious” yet? ;)

Went completely left field and I’m okay with that.

Was not expecting the story to take turn.. but I loved. Quick walk around the neighborhood and I was done. Onto the 2nd one in this series.

Darker Twilight Zone

This story is like an episode of Twilight Zone with no restraint. As someone who grew up with horror and unsettling tales this has scratched the itch in my brain that I've had gor years that nothing else has been able to.
