About this listen

Bayport High's Varsity cheer squad is made up of the hottest of the hot. But this A-list is dangerous in more ways than one. The Squad is actually a cover for the most highly trained group of underage government operatives the United States has ever assembled. They have the perfect cover, because, beyond herkeys and highlights, no one expects anything from a cheerleader.

Sarcastic, witty and funny, a great listen

I enjoyed this book very much and will recommend it and will listen to more of Jennifer Lynn Barnes work.Although I"m not big on high school stories, this is a great exception and was a lot of fun to listen to. It was good clean fun, wihtout being prudish or uptight. It kept a smile on my face and a laugh close at hand while I listened .

An excellent performance by the reader! Adds a lot!

The kind of good humor I've been looking for and not found up till now.

Don't let the cover steer you away from this audio

If you could sum up The Squad: Perfect Cover in three words, what would they be?

I picked up this audio on the 4.95 special list. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It is a fun book with witty and sarcastic quips that kept me entertained. If an imagine of Stephanie Plum in high school appeals, you will enjoy this audio.

Cheerleaders as Spies

I would recommend it because it was fun and entertaining. However, it felt like this book was mainly for a younger audience, tweens and teens.

Yes. So far I really enjoy all the books I read by her.

Great and Snarky with Fantastic narration

What did you love best about The Squad: Perfect Cover?

Honestly, what I liked best is that I liked it way more than I ever expected to. I bought it purely because of the narrator because she is my favorite, and because it received decent reviews. The idea of a secret agent cheer leading squad seems absolutely ridiculous. And even though the realistic idea of this still is silly, the book managed to make it, maybe not believable but at least very enjoyable.

What other book might you compare The Squad: Perfect Cover to and why?

I don't think story wise I could compare it, but the narration, tone, and overall performance I would compare to many of Ronconi's performances of Molly Harper's books. She puts her natural snarkiness and fun into her reading and really pulls you in without you noticing it.

What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?

I liked her performance as a whole, the fact that she can sound like a real teenager, not like someone trying to be a teenager, and that she can give each and every cheerleader their own voice is quite impressive. Especially since they are described as almost the same person, she gives each character life, not just the protagonist.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

From snarky to sparkly; a spies ability to be "cheery"

Any additional comments?

I would definitely say that buying this book is a great idea and if you are on the fence about it, buy it! You won't be disappointed. This book takes the typical story of turning an outsider into the "it" girl and elevates to a different level where it has a real purpose instead of so the hot guy will date her. Fun, and easy to listen to, but also interesting enough that I've already listened to it a second time just to see what little parts I missed.

Fun and easy listening

Had read this in high school xx years ago and story came up again on my fyp. The little brother is a bit too cringey with the girl crazy gimmick but still overall enjoyable story. Narrator did a good job trying to establish a different voice for the many characters so it never really got confusing as to who was supposed to be talking.

ok!!!!!

I love this author.
Glad to find this series
She captures the hate/love of cheerleaders beautifully.
The premise is nothing sort of genius.
Go Bayport!
