About this listen

The young woman standing on Lottie's step was a stranger. She was clutching the hand of a young boy. "Help me," she said to Lottie. "Please help me."

One Monday morning, the body of a young pregnant woman is found. The same day, a mother and her son visit the house of Detective Lottie Parker, begging for help to find a lost friend.

Could this be the same girl?

When a second victim is discovered by the same man, with the murder bearing all the same hallmarks as the first, Lottie needs to work fast to discover how else the two were linked. Then two more girls go missing.

Detective Lottie Parker is a woman on the edge, haunted by her tragic past and struggling to keep her family together through difficult times. Can she fight her own demons and catch the killer before he claims another victim?

The Stolen Girls is a gripping thriller that will leave you breathless. Perfect for fans of Rachel Abbott, Karin Slaughter, and Robert Dugoni.

Trigger warning for self harm

An amazing book but talks a lot about self harm can be a trigger for some people. Patrica Gibney sure knows how to keep you guessing until the very end. Love this series

Good Series Cooking Here

Even better than the first Lottie Parker book, this tale of kidnapping and all manner of nastiness demonstrates Patricia Gibney's knack for the mystery genre. Good characters, engaging storyline, decent dialogue made this one entertaining enough to be worth the time and credit.

Keeps you guessing!!

The character development and storyline were great! My only comment, that isn’t necessarily negative, but just a warning… this is about human trafficking, and some of the description might be difficult to listen to.

I’m getting ready for the next book!

The Rare Sequel That Lives Up To The First Book!

A sequel that was just as engaging as the first book!

This is the second book in the DI Lottie Parker mysteries, taking place about 4 months after the end of the first book. Lottie and her family are still dealing with the aftermath of catching her brother’s killer, the death of her daughter Katie’s boyfriend, and the strained relationship with her work partner, Boyd. In this case, DI Parker is set trying to solve a series of murders where even identifying the victims is practically impossible, let alone the identity of their killer.

Patricia Gibney has a real talent for understanding and depicting trauma in all of its forms. Her handling of Katie’s self-harm storyline was especially well done; I really feel like she approaches these kinds of topics with a thoughtfulness that stirs the emotions of her readers without glamorizing or trivializing mental illness.

As with the first book, it is not necessarily about figuring out the “whodunit” - Gibney gives you enough to clues to work it out - but the complex motivations of the characters, and their relationships to each other makes a big reveal moment that is very satisfying.

Fantastic series, and I highly recommend the audiobook version. The narrator, Michele Moran, is immaculate. She really delivers on building the suspense throughout the story, and really brings DI Parker to life.
