About this listen

One train. No stops. A deadly game of survival and revenge.

In 1942, six people destroyed Anna Matheson’s family. Twelve years later, she’s ready for retribution.

Under false pretenses, Anna has lured those responsible for her family’s downfall onto a luxury train from Philadelphia to Chicago, an overnight journey of thirteen hours. Her goal? Confront the people who’ve wronged her, get them to confess their crimes, and deliver them into the hands of authorities waiting at the end of the line. Justice will at last be served.

But Anna’s plan is quickly derailed by the murder of one of the passengers. As the train barrels through the night, it becomes clear that someone else on board is enacting their own form of revenge—and that they won’t stop until everyone else is dead.

With time running out before the train reaches its destination, Anna is forced to hunt the killer in their midst while protecting the people she hates the most. In order to destroy her enemies, she must first save them—even though it means putting her own life at risk.

I enjoyed the clue vibes and the action on the train lots of twists! Didn’t really connect with any of the characters

With a Vengeance had me hooked from start to finish. The characters were compelling, the suspense was intense, and the twists and turns kept me guessing the entire time. I’ve enjoyed Sager’s other books, but I’m often left wanting more from the endings—this one absolutely delivered. It was smart, satisfying, and tied everything together perfectly. If you’re a fan of thrillers, this is a must-read.

3.75/5

Okay, finally. A new genre for Sager and he pulled it off. Historical fiction revenge story? I was all in. After his last few flops, I was fully expecting to side-eye my way through this, but I stayed locked in the whole time. The setup was so messy. In a good way. Just shady people doing shady things that snowballed into absolute chaos for Anna’s family. Locked in.

There were a lot of characters to keep track of, and some were more interesting than others *cough* Dante* but the overall story kept the tension going. And I loved the revenge angle. Especially when it started hitting back at people who thought they were off the hook.

Of course, in true Sager fashion, the ending went twist-twist-TWIST, but surprisingly, it didn’t lose me. It was satisfying, and honestly? I’d read a sequel if he made one. Definitely better than his last few. Not perfect, but fun, fast-paced, and actually delivered what it promised.

A GOOD ONE FROM SAGER

I devoured this! Although it may not be my favorite Riley Sager book, I am definitely pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. There were a-lot of people to get straight at the beginning, but once I got that under control, I really was addicted and enjoyed the rest of the ride.

Usually all of his books, leave me on my edge of my seat this book, though did not do it for me for some reason I don’t know if it was the historical aspect of it or what not, but this book did not captivate me as most of his writing usually does

Riley Sager did not disappoint with this book. I loved the thrillers of the book at every twist and turn. I loved the play on two of Agatha Christie’s works! I am a huge fan of And Then There Were None. I read it with my 6th graders a few years back and need to re read it! Sager had me guessing all the way up till the bitter end! I actually got creeped out a few times. 🤣🤭

10/10 would recommend!

Seriously, why is it so important to use the GD so frequently or at all???? It’s disgusting, disrespectful and dumbs down the intelligence. There are much better ways to express anger. How about swearing using your own name?

Is there a GD quota to meet?

Let me preface this review by saying this book will not be for everyone, its niche, it’s over the top and it’s mischievous. I loved every second of it. The audio performance was top notch and I loved our FMC. The third person POV was a delightful change of pace and added a level of dramatics that feeds my soul. I loved this book.

Trains, drama, the 50s? Yes please
