Publisher's summary

What happens when your past meets your present?

Luca is used to being ‘the single one’ – which is partly why she dreaded going to the wedding of an old university friend. Surrounded by faces she hasn’t seen in 10 years, Luca can feel herself being sucked back into the immature, decade-old gossip that no one seems to have forgotten.

But when Tom walks in, Luca’s heart stops. He was her ‘almost boyfriend’, and she had been completely swept off her feet by him… but he’s currently standing next to the girl he broke her heart with at a party all those years ago.

As the evening draws on and the champagne continues to flow, it’s clear that Tom can’t take his eyes off her. Will Luca’s luck in love finally take a turn?

The laugh-out-loud new novel from bestseller Portia Macintosh, perfect for fans of Sophie Ranald and Mhairi MacFarlane!

Ok story, awful narrator

The narrator was awful. I don’t understand why she gave Clarke such a high pitched voice.

The story was alright, but not as clever or funny as the author’s other work.

Enjoyable story, didn’t enjoy the narrator

I enjoyed how this story played out, but I didn’t love the narrator. Her pitch choices for some of the characters did not seem to be accurate for the character. Example would be Clarky, who came off sounding like a girl. And the Welsh accent for Fiona, did not sound at all like a Welsh accent at all. Still, the story was enjoyable.

Not a favorite

Read a lot of her newer books all of which I loved. This one is slow, tedious and I’m just not drawn into it. The narration was too slow and monotone. Otherwise Portia is one of my favorite authors!

Just ok…

I love this author but this one is not her best. Missing the magic of the other novels I’ve read. Too many characters not well developed and story gets convoluted with flashbacks and internal monologues by the protagonist. I was ready for it to end halfway through and that’s very unusual for me. Glad I bought at a discount rate I doubt I’ll listen again. Narrator is ok. Different than the other books as well more childish tone and range of voices is limited. I highly recommend author’s other novels instead like the Plus One Pact and Stuck on You for a more traditional and charming British Rom Com experience.

cute but convoluted

I liked the characters. There was some depth to them. The narration was really well done. It wasn't your typical ending.

Not the regular narrator

I’ve listened to many audiobooks by Portia MacIntosh and enjoy the story every time! This narrator was not the best in my opinion she talks very slowly. I had to speed up the story just to listen to her speak at a regular rate. The story was interesting but didn’t have the ending I was expecting. There’s nothing wrong with switching up the ending but the predictable ending is what keeps me listening to books by Portia MacIntosh.

Good story line, narration difficult!

The story line was cute, but the narrator of the story made it painful for me!

Least favorite

I have enjoyed every other book written by this author. This book was boring and hard to finish.

My least favorite of her books

I hate to admit it, but the narrator made it hard to listen to just like the other reviews said.

Awful narrator

She seems to be very bored and disinterested in the book- sad? It’s bad. I can’t pay attention to the book. The narrator sounds like she’s about to off herself with depression.
