About this listen

Marching to war.

The Carthaginians are marching to destroy Rome and it is up to Ky, a test pilot from the future thrown into an alternate past, to keep the once mighty Roman Empire from being destroyed.

As Ky gathers Roman and Caledonian forces together to form a new Britannic Empire to defend against the Carthaginian host, he must also struggle to contend with a malfunctioning AI implanted in his brain that is slowly gaining sentience.

Thankfully, Ky is not alone. With the help of the Emperors daughter Lucilla, he must ready himself to fight both his own mind and the Carthaginian hordes for a chance to build a new world.

Will Ky succeed in cementing the Britannic Empire as a force to counter the Carthaginian threat, or will the this alternate earth fall to Carthaginian hegemony?

Awesome listen, couldn’t put it down. Had to rewind a few times to understand several areas where it wasn’t clear what was going on. Glad they took the magic shield out of play. Need the 3rd book in audio.

The Trumpets of Mars

Glad I did not let negative reviews keep me from this series. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to the next book. I will re-read this again someday.

What a ride!

The writing is excellent. I have been a student of history and frequently research battle tactics and battles of the past. From the earliest recorded history to present day. The amount of accuracy and effort to ensure this alternate timeline fit into realistic ends shows the dedication this writer has taken to be true to the chosen style.
I am flying through this gripping tale and have totally embraced the characters and their journeys.
I cannot wait for the next book!
The only part I find disappointing is the fact I know I will come to the end eventually!
Bravo to both writer and performer, and to all involved in the recording/production of these audio books.

Excellent continuation of the first book

Really enjoyed the story and character development. And happy to see a conclusion to the events of book 1, although I felt the final battle was a bit lacking.

Same complaints with the narrator, talks too fast. Still slowing this one down as I did with the first one. Narrator made several mistakes reading the same line twice multiple times, more so than book 1.

Either way, I’m engrossed in the story and eager to see how it plays out in the rest of the series. I strongly recommend this book. It’s just fun and leaves you wanting to find out what happens next without so much suspense that you can’t focus on what’s going on.

Need More !!!

Excellent series. The writer keep you engaged and does a good job of setting the scene without being boring or over-wordy. I cannot wait till the next release

Great fun! Needs Work with Pacing.

He talks about the big battle for half of the first book and most of the second book. And it’s over in one short chapter. 20 minutes to tell how the new weapons work and a quick scene at the end. Boom.

That’s really my only complaint. The book is good fun so far. I enjoyed the strategizing scenes and the prep work up north, but why the rush with the Big Battle?

I can't wait for book 3

I can't help but compare it to the Destiny's Crucible series by Olan Thorensen. Ky is definitely the better main character. Hopefully he won't turn polygamous.
