Publisher's summary

Critical thinking is the essential tool for ensuring that students fulfill their promise. But, in reality, critical thinking is still a luxury good, and students with the greatest potential are too often challenged the least. Thinking Like a Lawyer:

  • Introduces a powerful but practical framework to close the critical thinking gap.
  • Gives teachers the tools and knowledge to teach critical thinking to all students.
  • Helps students adopt the skills, habits, and mindsets of lawyers.
  • Empowers students to tackle 21st-century problems.
  • Teaches students how to compete in a rapidly changing global marketplace.

Colin Seale, a teacher-turned-attorney-turned-education-innovator and founder of thinkLaw, uses his unique experience to introduce a wide variety of concrete instructional strategies and examples that teachers can use in all grade levels and subject areas. Individual chapters address underachievement, the value of nuance, evidence-based reasoning, social-emotional learning, equitable education, and leveraging families to close the critical thinking gap.

First watch

Great examples for understanding the narrative.
Great flow. Each chapter progresses to a higher degree and kept you seeking more information on cognitive development.

worth reading even if your not interested in teach

Critical thinking is a buzz that has lost all meaning. Colin Seale refines and creates scaffold to anyone,(even none students) towards improving their lateral thinking ability. Recommend highly to any educator, parent, or business owner.

Emphasize to think things further

Enjoyable listen, builds on a deeper level of think, critical thinking to be exact. Delves into how we were raised and how it affected the mentality we take on as adults.

Best for teachers

I enjoyed the beginning and the end . The middle part was more directed towards teachers . I will definitely focus more on critical thinking for my children

A must-read *and* apply for all educators!

Seale's book provides excellent arguments and examples for both educators and parents to better prepare our students for the "future of work."

Think like a Teacher

I was actually disappointed in the content of this book. The title of the book is very misleading. This book could have easily been summarized by saying " teach critical thinking in the classroom".

Seems like a commercial

The author is a teacher that went to law school. The book alternates between an autobiography of the author (that’s slightly off putting due to bragging) and a commercial for his ThinkLaw high school curriculum that I have no interest in. I’m disappointed I paid money for this.
