About this listen

A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of The Passenger and Til Death Do Us Part

It seemed like the perfect house on the perfect street. Until they met the neighbours . . .

Happily married couple Katie and Sean have plenty to look forward to as they move into their new home and plan for the future. But then they meet two of their new neighbours and everything on their quiet street suddenly doesn't seem as desirable as it did before.

Having been warned about the other neighbours, and their adulterous and criminal ways, Katie and Sean realise that they are going to have to be on their guard if they want to make their time here a happy one.

But the other neighbours seem so nice and that's why they choose to ignore the warning and get friendly with the rest of the people on the street. And that is why their marriage will never be the same again . . .

Four houses. Six neighbours. And one shocking twist.

I wanted to like this, I really did.

Though the narration was extremely well-done, the plot came across as rather juvenile and silly. Maybe it’s me. As I say, each to their own. But really, who would take a rumor from new neighbors next door seriously and believe it? I will continue to listen for now.

Interesting

I was surprised at the twist, thinking it was Chris or Abby. I hope there is another story with Martin

Good read.

Kind of saw that coming. Still a good read. I’ve really enjoyed this author, they seem to come up with interesting storylines.

A book long argument

Not a fan of the annoying characters. I knew the first twist right from the get go. And the final twist wasn’t much of a shock either. Not really a thriller. I didn’t like the writing style. There was an awful lot of repetitive sayings and obvious explanations. Not really that intriguing. However, it was better than listening to static.

Daniel Hurst nails it again.

Great story line. Keeps you wondering as you go along. And the twists and turns at the end were not what I expected.

Good story

I enjoyed the story and the writing. Found myself chuckling at the husband. The Narrator's did great. (Slowed it down a little) Great ending.
Looking for another from this author. Thanks.

Curiosity

It’s not my usual type of thriller but I was curious so stayed with it. It was catchy!!

I want my six and a half hours back.

I don't read the synopsis of any book. I like to go in blind and be surprised. This book started off well enough, the story drawing me in. The various characters were relatively intriguing and I settled in for a good yarn. I assumed it was some sort of mystery or thriller, but it was more like watching teenagers interact. Immature, impulsive, entitled, insecure teenagers. But these were all adults, well, with the exception of Jackson.
I wanted to like this book, I really did. But it went along, drifting slowly downhill, then it just went faster and faster, before crashing into a brick wall.
*spoilers ahead*
Katie and Shawn were so ridiculously insecure and finicky, I wanted to scream. I pegged Albert and Irene as the busybodies they were fairly early in the story and at one point thought good grief, why are these Septuagenarians behaving like junior high school kids? And then the reason for all of the drama was just so stupid and I actually laughed out loud at the ending. This book was awful and I want my six and a half hours back. It doesn't deserve the 4 star rating it has.
