Why is telling our story important?

Stories are powerful, they’re also healing . This book is written for that very purpose, it explores why. This book left this reader with encouragement and motivated me to write my story.

Love the perspective of co-authoring my story with God

Actually I am more of a transcriber recording the story that God has for me. I am currently in a place in life where I thought I saw my story playing out but a month ago one chapter abruptly closed and now the current chapter is significantly differnt than where I thought it would be. I am leaning on God to allow him to guide me where I need to be and how it’s supposed ti play out because I’m having a a hard time understing what is happening and why. But trust in the master story teller

Wish Allender had narrated

Good book. But I definitely think you need the workbook to really get started on the ideas if you can’t go to a workshop. I also think Allender would have been a better narrator for this book. He speaks well and has his own podcast. The narrator had a very formal style that didn’t suit Allender writing style well.

Thought Provoking and Inspiring

I loved this book so much that I went ahead and purchased the paperback & workbook. I must say, I was challenged by it's thought provoking content and many times (as I was challenged by my own stories) wanted to run from it. I found myself crying one moment and laughing the next! Though I'm not ready to dive into the work book yet, I know it will be life altering when I do. Well done Mr. Allender, I will never look at my story or anyone else’s for that matter the same again!

The narrator at first sounded robotic and slightly bothered me but after the first chapter I adjusted to his tone and found his voice (along with the content) enjoyable and fatherly.

Highly recommended!!

“Your story is not your own” Dan Allender

I love how Allender touches on the subject of the orphan, the stranger and the widow. He invites you to explore what archetype you might be and then to start writing. I LOVE how he talks so much about knowing our story allows for you to move closer to God. I love his examples of his own story and pieces of others. Dan Allender is one of my favorite authors and has been a source of much healing in my own story!

God is not our controlling puppet master 😢

This book is not in line with Scripture at all! It confuses identity with life circumstances and removes free will with the picture of a controlling God. It does not give credit to the forces of evil for our struggles. This makes me so sad because I believe the process in the book could really help people. But misrepresenting God is a dealbreaker for me.
