About this listen

As the world descends into chaos, one woman will do anything to find her daughter…

Shannon Grayson is a tough-as-nails long-haul truck driver on a routine job. But her life is turned upside down when a massive electromagnetic blast hits North America while she’s unloading cargo at the South-Central Retail Supercenter, demolishing the power grid.

Now she’s trapped inside the sprawling building, along with dozens of other survivors. And no one is coming to their rescue. Without power, the world outside begins to collapse. Shannon is determined to escape and find her daughter—they haven’t seen each other since Shannon entered witness protection five years ago, but when SHTF her momma-bear drive takes over.

But first, she must survive this ordeal…Eight hundred miles away is Dennis Sullivan, Shannon’s witness protection officer, who swore to protect her and her daughter—and he’s a man of his word. He’ll battle through the ruins of America to reunite with them and ensure their safety.

Desperation quickly turns to terror as Shannon and the others realize there’s no way out of the locked-down supercenter. They’ll have to depend on each other to survive. But in a world gone mad, the greatest threat are the people around you.

Hoping for more in book 2

The story was a bit draggy and rambling, but the narrators kept me engaged. I'm glad I stuck with it and overall enjoyed it.

Really great listen loved the characters and narration!

Trapped Days is a post apocalyptic thriller about a possible EMP blast that takes out the at the very least the national grid. All us services fail within minutes and water takes a few more days. This story follows a few key people in various places and we see the world devolve thru their experiences. It doesn’t take long for people to devolve into a survival of the fittest mentality and ruthless behavior, looting thievery and the like becomes commonplace within days. Those with any semblance of decency find themselves attacked and taken advantage of at almost every turn as they can’t quite understand that people are already turning savage so soon. As with any post apocalyptic situation a few things seem slightly implausible as you would think at least the marshal/war veteran would at least out of anyone expect this mentality and be more careful and less trusting. However, for the sake of the story I like his grappling with his inner character although I find it funny he is ok with stealing from nature ok but he won’t go into a dead man’s house. But that was day two so I guess life choices. I like Kim Sarah’s daughter she us a dusty little thing n Dennis who is in no shape to protect anyone by the time he finds her had his work cut out for him. Overall, I like book one and definitely plan to co timer the series. I loved the different situations and some of the rather ingenious solutions to some pretty serious problems. The bastion was great and I loved the characters voices!

It does end on a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait for more!

I listened to this entirely as an audiobook while tackling some housework, and I kept stopping just to listen because the story was so engrossing. There are 2.5 storylines: Trucker Shannon, trapped in a store, her pain-pill-popping witness protection agent Dennis, who’s trying to find Shannon’s daughter, and a minor storyline about Shannon’s ex in prison.

Shannon’s story hooked me because of the fascinating locked-room mystery vibe, and Dennis’ story worked because he’s such an intriguing character (and he has a dog!). This isn’t my usual genre, but I had a really good time with it, and the audio narration was really well done!

Terrible narrators

I wanted to like this so much because I like everything from Grace Hamilton. The narrator’s were terrible especially the male narrator. The story was just OK. I definitely wanted more from this and was pretty disappointed.

Not Hamilton's best at all

I LOVED the EMP Lodge series and took a chance on her new book. Boy did I waste a credit. Such a disconnect in the story, jumping around from character to character with a weak plot. I should have stuck to a purchase of one of Hamilton's complete series.
