Publisher's summary

A reclusive heiress...a loyal servant...a mansion frozen in time.

After her husband's plane goes down in a WWII battle, a poor nurse becomes the wealthiest widow in town.

And she never leaves her mansion for 70 years.

When estate sale organizer Audrey Nealon enters the Tate Mansion after the widow's death, she discovers nothing's been changed since the day the house was built. Why did the heiress and her maid eat canned soup and read used paperbacks surrounded by magnificent art and antiques? Why were the house and its contents bequeathed to a small local charity?

Audrey's idle curiosity soon turns into a desperate need to know. Because someone wants to profit from the Tate Mansion's secrets. And if others have to die to make that happen, so be it.

Can Audrey outwit a wily con man? Or is she is too smart to live?

Tired of predictable mysteries that you have figured out long before the end? Rejoice! Here is a mystery with a strong female protagonist and plenty of plot twists to keep you challenged. The characters you love - amateur sleuth Audrey, Ty, Sean, and Ethel the shelter dog - are back in another adventure full of antiques, family secrets, and murder. Download now and listen all night!

A Mystery Series You Can't Get Enough Of

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would! I've listened to each of the previous Audible editions, and each are great stand alone books. The narration is top flight. The plot well paced. Short on violence and sex. And the story doesn't "need" them to stay interesting.

What did you like best about this story?

The development, the characters and the fantastic narration by Janelle Tedesco!

What does Janelle Tedesco bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Wide range of believable voices for each of the characters. She presents the story like an actor on a stage with her physical presence!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I took my time to savor it.

Any additional comments?

I am a fan of the genre. This was right up near my favorites.

I was given a copy of this audio book in return for an honest review.
Thanks for the opportunity to share my opinions.

Great Listen

Where does Treasure in Exile rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This series is absolutely in the top 10 for me - I've listened to all 4 books at least twice now and can't wait for the next installment.

What did you like best about this story?

The character development throughout the series is great. You can feel the characters moving along in their lives. No one has stayed the same from one book to the next - they are all growing and changing.

Any additional comments?

Listen to the entire series - you won't regret it!

I love this book and this series!

I loved this book. As with the others I've listened to in this series, it's full of secrets and interesting, complex characters. The story was totally engrossing and as it began to unravel, I couldn't stop listening. The ending was not at all what I was expecting. I like how the books in this series are not predictable and the characters are realistic. Audrey and Ty are hard working people with a real passion for what they do. They are protective and look out for one another and they make a very nice team. They're two very different people who have a good working relationship and a strong personal bond too. Janelle Tedesco is an absolutely amazing narrator. Her voices for these characters are what really make this series fun to listen to. She has such a wide range of both male and female voices. A real treasure for a narrator! I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

Another great Treasure

Ever since I knew there was another "Treasure" in the making, I waited for its release as audio book. I've listened to, and enjoyed all previous books in the series, so I was looking forward to returning to what feels like family, or good friends.
I was not disappointed! Even though there is a new addition to the staff (and she nearly feels too good to be true) while one member has left for good -- they all worked perfectly together.
Once again, the characters, the language, everything is absolutely believable.
The characters have developed yet more, which is great.
I'm glad I started at volume one when I did, because if I had to do it now, the fact that there are meanwhile four volumes might have put me off through the sheer number. However, I sincerely hope we'll get at least a couple more because I so enjoy the series.

Janelle Tedesco nailed it again. Just how she manages to get the characters so consistent with the previous book is a mystery, but I'm sure it requires a lot of work and preparation.
I listened to this in record time, only stopping when real life absolutely required it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, and I chose to willingly post an honest review.

Great book. I can't wait for the next one.

I absolutely love this series, and this latest book is no exception. The book is written incredibly well and is gripping to the last moment. I love the different characters and find that they are so well-developed. I get upset when I finish books in this series because it means I need to wait for a new one to be written. The narrator for the audiobook is incredible, too. She uses such distinctive voices for each character and really brings the story to life. I highly recommend this book (and the rest in the series) for any lover of mysteries.

Wonderful Mystery!

Treasure in Exile is the first of the Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery Series I've listened to/read, and loved it! I wasn't left feeling confused by the lack of my reading the prior books in the series, but I'm definitely going to read every book in the series! I truly enjoyed it. Loved the writing, narration. I'm fairly easy to please, I can get into just about any book, but this one, and many others I've read recently, really impressed me. I'm definitely up for listening to more and learning more about the series. I'd definitely recommend it!! :)

Well narrated. An engaging mystery.

Treasure in Exile was my first Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery and I really enjoyed it. While the books feature recurring characters, I did not feel lost by not having read the earlier books.

I enjoyed the plotting and pace of the story. I can’t recall ever reading about an estate sale organiser who falls into sleuthing courtesy of the job, but it works. Audrey’s enjoyment of her work comes through the narrative and her desire to solve the mysteries she stumbles across comes from a genuine desire to learn the truth.

The mystery in this book is not one I would ever have guessed the solution to. It was a well woven story and brings insight into past rules of society and how they impact people today.

I enjoyed Janelle Tedesco’s narration. The tone, pacing and emotion were all done extremely well. Each character had their own voice, and I particularly enjoyed the character of Ty. He was a lot of fun even though it’s obvious his life has not been the easiest.

Yet another great installment

This is the fourth Palmyrton Estate mystery. I've been involved with Audrey, the main character, from book one. She's a great character and her continuing saga is a wonderful listen.

She's still in the estate sales business and this time we get a very detailed history lesson along with the sale.

The whodunnit was a bit of a shocker but that paled in comparison to the 'whytheydunnit '. The unveiling of that was pretty cool.

The narrator continues to deliver. She's tasked to do quite a few different voices and does them with conviction.

Great listen. Great mystery.

Truly a wonderful intriguing wonderful listen

It started out slow but if you give it time it all falls together giving you an interesting twist that you don’t see coming. The author takes you back in time to War World II two young people meet fall in love, get married, one is shipped out to fly planes and the other goes back to her husbands home. Things are not easy for the woman she is way out of her element living in a big house with money she doesn’t know what to do with and a father-in-law who isn’t thrilled having her as a daughter-in-law. This couple has a plan, that is until his plane goes down and life as she knows it changes forever. Move ahead many years the woman is now old and has died but what is the mystery around her life and how is it tied into the death of another young woman who has everything she could ever want.

Ms. Tedesco did a wonderful delightful job of narration giving true emotion that you can feel to the characters. You know what each one is going through and just what they are feeling. I loved how her voices all blended together naturally giving each character their own personality that worked well with the story. I felt each complimented the other why pulling you in giving you a story you couldn’t put down. There are no background noises or any repeats of words it is a very clean, clear audio that held me spellbound. The audio volume is even throughout with no high or low places. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. I loved the emotion Ms. Tedesco puts in her voice never leaving you guessing what each person is feeling from anger to happiness she hits each one right on the mark. She knows how to deliver a great listen that holds your attention and leaves you with wanting more. Her voice is very pleasant pulling you in painting a picture you can see in your mind as each scene unfolds giving you a wonderful compelling listen. I very much look forward to listening to more of her work.

At first, I thought the author was putting too much filler in the story. I kept thinking what does that have to do with this. I have to say it all ties in nicely giving you a shocking story that will stay with you for some time to come. There are many twists, some with a darker side that will leave you thinking what oh my lord, how terrible. As you are taken back in time you feel the pain of people from long ago and how one persons evil will change the lives of so many for many years to come. The author gives you mystery, evil, deaths, and so much more as she twists her words right into your heart. Once she brings on the mystery she had me in the palm of her hand with a story I couldn’t put down. It was so wonderful, unique and intriguing that I have picked it as one of my favorite listens for this year.
