About this listen

It all begins in the closet. Paris Jablonski, wife, mother, social worker, and aspiring writer, is celebrating her seventh wedding anniversary when she uncovers a secret letter about her sexy French husband - and his girlfriend. The letter is in French, nearly incomprehensible, and so is the betrayal. How could she, an experienced mental health professional, have so misread her own life? After traveling to France to confront her husband, Paris returns to face wildfires, evacuations, and a new job with recovering addicts. And she finds herself attracted to the most unlikely candidate: A recovering alcoholic who also happens to be a client. In this heart-tugging story of love, loss and renewal, Paris Jablonski is a heroine whose street savvy must learn to take back seat to a wiser heart.

Loved the honest inner wrestlings of a social worker going through their own personal crisis. Well written to help others feel the humanity of people trying to be honest with themselves about the challenges they face.

A peak into a conflicted heart of a social worker

Beautifully written novel about a Social Worker named Paris who finds her marriage is not as secure as she thought. After Paris experiences some heartache and adventure in France, she rebounds with the support of family, friends and interestingly a former client named Dean Martin. I enjoyed how the story kept me wondering if Paris would keep her cards close or if she’d open up to new experiences with Dean. The tender storytelling reveals the reality of how people close to us can unsuspectingly surprise us. The storytelling is also funny, and I found myself cracking up at Paris’s unique view of the world. Paris’s relationship with her relatives paint a vivid picture of how family can put the ‘fun’ in dysfunctional! Heartwarming, real, and overall a great story.

Beautifully written love story
