Later that autumn, the English gathered their first successful harvest and lifted the specter of starvation. Ousamequin and 90 of his men then visited Plymouth for the 'First Thanksgiving'. Menstruation is something half the world does for a week at a time, for months and years on end, yet it remains largely misunderstood. Scientists once thought of an individual’s period as useless and some doctors still believe it’s unsafe for a menstruating person to swim in the ocean wearing a tampon. Period counters the false theories that have long defined the study of the uterus, exposing the eugenic history of gynecology while providing an intersectional feminist perspective on menstruation science.

Eye Opening & Empowering!
In this beautifully produced audiobook, Stock gives us a comprehensive, sensitive, and thought provoking overview of gender identity, gender expression, the spectrum of gender, non-binary relationships, how to communicate with different gender types, and so much more.
One aspect of this book that sets it apart is the section entitled "10 Things You Don't Ever Say To A Transgender Person." I found this extremely helpful and I will be using it as a roadmap in future conversations with trans people to make sure they feel respected, understood, and appreciated.
Overall, I found this resource to be an extremely valuable and inclusive addition to the ongoing and evolving dialogue on gender which was as informative as it was engaging and practical. Highly Recommend!

Informative and Impactful!
A powerful and essential book that delves into the complexities of gender identity, providing readers with the tools to become better allies to the LGBTQ+ community. I picked up this book with the intention of expanding my knowledge on the topic, but little did I know that it would impart such a profound lesson. From the outset, the author shares a heart-wrenching personal story of internal struggle, which made me empathize and gain a glimpse into the profound sorrow that transgender individuals experience. This gripping narrative sets the stage for the rest of the book, fostering compassion and a deep desire to learn more.
Throughout the pages, the author skillfully imparts knowledge, shedding light on what gender identity truly means and how we can reshape our beliefs to be more inclusive. A great book filled with practical advice for navigating language respectfully and inclusively. Highly recommend!
