About this listen

Hugo Malalou must die.

Greyson Hirsch has carved a bloody path of destruction across America in his war against superheroes. Fully embracing the villainous persona of Damocles, he now dedicates himself to ridding the world of these “false messiahs".

His next target is San Miguel’s own Aegis, known to friends and family as Hugo Malalou. By slaughtering Aegis and his team of Paragons, Damocles hopes to crush the symbolic face of this new generation of heroes.

Hugo is equally motivated to stopping Damocles’ reign of terror, bringing him closer to a shadowy powerbroker hell-bent on burning the current world order to ashes. But Hugo’s efforts are derailed when a close friend is corrupted by an ancient evil that could plunge San Miguel and beyond into nightmarish chaos.

Now he is forced to make an impossible choice - stop Damocles, or save his friend's life. The only option this young hero has is to roll the dice, causing destructive consequences no matter what he chooses.

This novel contains potty-mouthed teens, super-on-super violence, and brain-melting superhero action.

Love the story Line

Surprisingly, this book series has kept my attention through the different books. Many series lose my attention with storylines that aren’t congruent to the series. C.C.Ekeke is a talented author and he does not put out a storyline in this series that isn’t authentic.

"Very good Hero stuff, but..."

I love the hero story lines and the human side of the story for the heroes and the antagonists, but I wish CC would cut WAY back on the teen romance crap.

Sometimes I feel like I'm listening to a script from a teeny bopper TV show on the CW network.

Still an excellent series, but NEEDS LESS TEEN ROMANCE!!

I’m kinda confused (There might be spoiler)

This book was pretty confusing to me, this could just be me but i don’t remember Max being introduced to the story. It felt like she was just put there and was completely normal. Was there another book i missed? I don’t remember her being in book 4. Plus this is getting out of hand with all the time traveling, magic, and alien stuff, i missed when it was just a simple superhero story. And i dont like that cliffhanger, not a fan of it.

Stand

This book continues the fantastic story of heroes in an alternate earth. The story line is great and keeps the reader/ listener engaged in every detail. I really hope that C.C. Ekeke is working on the next book now. It has been a really engaging Book series.

I rolled my eyes so many times at the unnecessary dragging

I get that there is a lot to cover and multiple point of views, but half of the time I just felt like the story was being dragged along with annoying filler but all in all I enjoyed the characters and can’t wait for the next book

Great Series!

There is some much going on in this series, with several different character arcs. It is so well-written and seamlessly intertwined that watching everything come together is a thrill.

The narration is very good, particularly from the two men. The female narrator has a cadence and lilt that is occasionally off-putting and frequently distracting. She is talented and unique, just not a performer I personally enjoy.

performance is getting better

The performance is getting better; however there's some flaws with the story that are pretty stark when it comes to Grayson. His real super power is super hypocrisy. He's always going on about super heroes being evil while doing the most heinous things.

If he really wanted to stop super heroes he should be killing super villains. If there were no super villains then there would be no need for super heroes. This could have set up a more realistic clash between him and the heroes.

I don't buy the super heroes attract super villains nonsense line. That's like saying criminals rib banks or sell drugs to challenge the cops. It's complete nonsense.

Less porn more action

Biggest flaw with this series is too much focus on romantic bullshit. Pull out 80% of all the touching kissing and soft porn descriptions and the book would be a whole lot better.

Epic storyline hits a highpoint

Ekeke has crafted a world of superheroes that's Completely original while playing homage to the great archetypes

United We Stand is a rollercoaster ride from start to finish dealing with magic, time travel, trust, betrayal, and super hero slug feasts. The storylines could be taken from your favorite comic book, but comes from diverse and inclusive world with characters hailing from every race and creed.

The writing style, narration, and voice acting all mimic what I imagine having a comic book read to me would sound like, with some of the descriptive passages seeming reminiscent of an original comic book script.
