About this listen

A month has passed since Oberon and Alessa defeated the Expedition forces sent against them by the Lordships. Their power has grown to the extent that the desert can provide. Ever frustrated by the level system of the world, he decides it's time to take a bigger piece of the pie. Marshaling his new forces, he heads into the continent. Mayhem is marching; may the gods have pity on anyone standing in his way.

like the book and the narrator is understandable but her voice isn't as clear and doesn't drawn me in as good as the first 2 in the series

different narrator

i paid for this and I'm going to finish it. I've never returned a book before and I'll not start now.
in short.
mispronounciations and little to no change in characters voices make it very very hard to listen to.
i genuinely feel bad for the author because this started as such an excellent series and i was about to pre-order the next book as i simply couldn't wait but seeing that it's the same VA as this book there's no way.
i hope there was a good reason for changing narrators because of it was simply to save money on production then that decision will certainly have the opposite effect.

i could forgive a bad narrator and often do but for the love of reading and stories take 5 min of your time and listen to a portion of the previous book or books, or would've taken all of 30 seconds or less to learn how to say the MC name. such lackluster effort made that i simply can't feel bad for speaking negatively of the narrator. if they had at least made the minimum effort.

if you've read this whole review and are determined to finish the book as i am then all i can advise is to lower the bass, turn up the treble and grit your teeth. 😓

Feel bad for the author, VA killing the series

I enjoy this series, but it really throws me off when the Oberon's name comes up. The voice actor never says it right. Also the range of voices for the characters is, well, kinda lacking. Other than that, great story.

I enjoy the series, but...

I couldn’t get that far with the audio book. The new narrator does not sound bad but mispronounced words and the change from a really good Narrator made it unbearable for me. Just going to read it on kindle.

New Narrator

Don’t really care for the narrator
Once you get used to the first narrator
I probably won’t order anymore

Don’t like the narrator

I love the series, but feel the VA dampens its greatness. When I think of a man who came close to the world, I think of someone with a deep booming voice. Having a Female VA play Oberons part completely ruins the story. She's great for female characters, but just doesn't fit the role for Oberon.

Great story undermined by the Voice Actor

It’s difficult when a narrator changes midway through a series. However, what made this listen exceedingly difficult at times is that the new narrator mispronounces the main character’s name throughout the entire book. I’m going to give the next book, a listen, and I hope the narrator gets the character name right this time.

Change is hard

re listening to the story since the new book is out. forgot I couldn't finish the 3rd book due to the absolutely terrible narration. every character sounds the same and the old voice just screams "ignor me" to me was very disappointed when I checked to see if it's the same reader as this book kinda thinking about returning the newest book now

the story is great but narration is terrible

I already read the book, so I knew what to expect.
I like the story. I'll keep getting them. my only complaint about the story is being "evil" for the sake of being evil. The MC should make a decision based purely off the fact that it's not good. Mr Peed might cover it in future stories, but I feel like this path will cause issues with the story down the road. i.e. what will the vampires eat when they kill all living.
The narration isn't bad, I just wish they would have stuck with the same narrator. The narrator uses the same voice for the male world litch, the ancient loli vampire, and the teen new vampire. Also, when I read it, I read O-ber-on. or some variation of that. Not O-bree-on.

Fairly good
