About this listen

This prequel to Wayward Galaxy begins as the world ends…

The colony ship Boone has launched for the planet Amir. Two more ships, hidden in a secret base in Africa, hasten their own plans to leave Earth as global war spirals toward a terminal doomsday.

But RUPAC forces are seeking to prevent further launches, and in order to escape, Jack Hughes—Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman turned private military contractor—and his team of contractors must fight against local terrorist militias, RUPAC regulars…and the deep fear that everything and everyone they're fighting for is on the verge of annihilation.

As the enemy closes and Jack faces overwhelming odds, only his ability as an operator, his determination to get his team out alive, and the help of an advanced AI named Brody provide any hope of survival.

The world is ending, but Jack Hughes still has a job to do.

Military Battles

Great descriptions of running battles. Not ex military here but enjoy the genre. The MC Jack does seem a bit over qualified and indeed would give Batman a run for his 💰. Totally enjoyed this revisit to Amir and the crazy it took to get there. Laughing out loud at RC Bray and his intro statements probably made my neighbors question my sanity, again. A enjoyable and great listen esp if you've experienced the previous books.

To-to-totally Wo-worth it!!!

A prequel worthy of a great series. Mark Boyett does a great job taking over the majority of the narration and I was thrilled to see that R.C. Bray reprised his part as the most awesome action AI - Brody! Looking forward to the next installment.

Great Back story for the series

No spoilers - If you’re a fan of the series you need to pick this one up!
Narration was a home run, Mark did a great job, glad that RC Bray voiced Brody - it was very John Matrix!

What a fantastic book. You gotta write one or two more. I need more Brodie in my life.

Same World - New Characters

This story goes back to the beginning of the exodus from Earth. The characters are new and excellently written. This story is excellent and I hope the writers continue with them.

Boyett and Bray do an excellent job bringing the story to life. If you've enjoyed the first six books, I don't believe this one will disappoint.

Bray saved it.

Sorry but if it wasn’t for RC Bray the audio book would have been a total dump. Can’t stand jumping from different narrator during a series. I would have waited for Bray to get better than push the book release.

Enjoyed learning about the beginning journey

Thank you for this book to share more about what really happened to the two ships and their colonists prior to the Boone finally landing other than 999 years lol. Hoping you will continue this story line to learn even more about their early journey:)
