About this listen

The Sassy Belles are back... and this time, wedding bells are ringing!

Seven months pregnant and head over heels in love, Vivi Ann McFadden is busy pulling together the final details for her wedding to Lewis Heart, famous play-by-play announcer for the Crimson Tide. But with two wedding-planners-gone-wild, a psychic giving her advice, and the ceremony happening on the same day as the wildly popular Crimson Tide kickoff game, chaos reigns supreme. Luckily, maid of honor Blake O'Hara Heart is on the job. She'll tackle this wedding if it's the last thing she does!

But not everyone is cheering for the happy couple. News of the upcoming nuptials has brought Lewis' old flame back to Tuscaloosa - and she's got a secret that could mean the end of Lewis' marriage... before it even begins.

Sexy Southern fun... with a hint of magnolia!

Editorial reviews

Southern women's fiction became a lot sassier with the arrival of author Beth Albright, who never misses a chance to honor her native Alabama in her novels. Wedding Belles, the second installment of Albright's Sassy Belles series, is full of women with quintessentially Southern double names like Vivi Ann and Myra Jean. Actress Allison McLemore brings a thick and endearing Southern accent to this entertaining and at times off-the-wall tale of marriage and college football. The audiobook opens with a reference to a trailer park psychic, contains a pregnant bride, and is full of humorous observations like "In the Deep South, women can wring your neck, hug your neck, and bless your heart all in the same day".

Good Book

I enjoyed the book and the overall story. I'm from Alabama and the narrator mispronounced too MANY words such as "Yeah" Alabama rather than Yea! Alabama. Also, the accents had too much drawl. I've lived in the South my whole life and know only a few people who talk like this. I want to read more Beth Albright novels and hope she gets to edit the narrator's performance before publishing to Auduble.

Loved it!

Just a light hearted little book! Enjoyed it thoroughly. The narrator was absolutely excellent. I don’t know how she could keep all the characters apart & sounding so different. There were parts that I literally laughed out loud.
I’m looking forward to starting Sleigh Bells, the next book in the series.

This Bama Grandma loved Wedding Belles!

Where does Wedding Belles rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely in the top 10 of what I call "fiction for fun"! I appreciate a book written about southern women who are bright, funny, intelligent, and upstanding. I appreciate a story about grown women who are not "adult mean girls". I appreciate characters who have flavor. Ms. Albright is very clever with southern phrases! I felt she did a great job in giving her characters southern charm without overdoing it. Some authors seem to have trouble in two areas: writing love scenes and writing dialogue, especially in giving different characters different "voices". I thought Ms. Albright did this VERY well! I'm a southern Grandma and I was impressed that all the characters spoke like I would expect and the scenes with intimacy were beautiful without giving too much information. Well done & ROLL TIDE, Ms. Albright!

What other book might you compare Wedding Belles to and why?

Perhaps the situation reminded me a little of another fav, The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. The characters are very different, though. The southern flavor comes through loud and clear, without being overdone.

Which scene was your favorite?

I don't want to give anything away, but the "taco cot in the closet" was particularly funny! I also loved the references to Alabama Football, the legendary coach, Bear Bryant, big hair and Aqua Net hairspray to combat the southern heat & humidity!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Again, I will choose carefully so as not to give anything away, but when the main character realized the depth of the love she felt for the man she had given her heart to. That was beautiful.

Any additional comments?
