Devney Perry
From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, second chance romance.
Gemma Lane built an empire. Not a small feat, considering her home as a teenager was a makeshift tent in a California junkyard. She’s dedicated her life to turning pennies into millions. She has power, fortune and prestige.
And she’s leaving it all behind.
Gemma is headed across the country in her best friend’s Cadillac when a detour in Montana reunites her with old acquaintances and a man who hasn’t changed. Easton Greer challenges her every word and tests her every limit because he doesn’t believe she’s really abandoned her riches. She ignores his snide remarks and muttered censure - until the day she’s ready to return to the wild highway, and Easton taunts her to stay.
She’ll prove to him she’s not just running back to her wealthy life, that she’s more than her money. She’ll unlock her guarded heart and hope that this time around, he’ll treasure the key.

Lucy Rivers did an amazing job performing Gemma. I love the deep, raspiness to her voice.
Jason Clarke was a great casting for Easton. He’s got that deep, growly sound you would expect from a rancher.
Now I’m onto book 3. Where will the Cadillac end up this time and will there be an HEA for Kat?

We meet Gemma in the first book, Runaway, and the Red Cadillac takes her back to Montana and Catherine. It also takes her back to the Greer ranch and Easton.
Another hot love affair with wonderful twist to lead you to the next story in the life of the Red Cadillac .

“The words I wanted to whisper begged to be free. I love you. I wanted to say them. I wanted her to know that she meant everything to me.”

Review: This is book 2 in the Runaway Series. I love the premise behind this series. Six friends who grew up in a junkyard together. All reconnecting over a car that once was home.
Gemma is such a strong woman and I definitely look up to her and my heart ached for her. I loved Easton! He was the broody cowboy we all love and these two were perfect together. I loved their banter and the chemistry was 🔥! Devney's description of the landscape was so detailed I could picture everything and I just wanted to go to Greer Ranch and Resort in Montana. Easton's grand gesture had me smiling with the biggest smile and my heart was swooning. It made me so dang happy. I honestly didn't want this book to end and the Epilogue was the cherry on top. I listened to the audiobook by Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers. They were absolutely perfect bringing these two to life! I can't wait for Katherine and Cash next!
Love this Second Chance Romance!

I love how this series follows the same car but a different person from a friend group who grew up together in a junkyard in California. At the end of book 1 we saw Gemma getting the red convertible from her friend Londyn who stayed in West Virginia. Gemma recently sold her cosmetics company in Boston and wants to take over the road trip to California. She decides she’ll use the road trip to figure out her next move and also who she wants to be. While on the trip she decides to take a detour and stops in Montana to visit her childhood friend Katherine. Gemma left behind Montana and Katherine 11 years ago without saying goodbye, she wants to go back to apologize and she also runs into Easton, someone else she left behind in Montana…
Easton’s family owns the resort and ranch where Gemma goes back to. They became friends in the past when she and Katherine first arrived there, before sharing a passionate night together right before she left Montana behind. Easton works on the ranch still and we get to see lots of close proximity time between him and Gemma. After a few days there, Gemma begs Katherine for a temporary job at the resort because she’s going bonkers without a job or something to do. She starts helping out with the reception desk and takes some horseback riding lessons from Easton. He is pissed at her at first and still hurt from her leaving after their passionate together years ago without a goodbye. Easton is convinced she won’t stay long and even bets her on it, she wants to prove him wrong so when his family gives her a cabin through the holidays she decides to stay for the 3 months to prove him wrong.
This book was less of the road trip, we got more of a road trip in the first book so I was expecting a little bit more time of that here. Instead we had Gemma detouring and arriving in Montana real quick in the beginning of the story. I did enjoy the second chance romance between Gemma and Easton. He has hurt feelings and is guarded against Gemma at first for good reason, she left so suddenly 11 years ago and he hasn’t forgotten. I thought that it would take longer for Katherine to forgive Gemma for ditching her all those years ago as well, but that relationship was actually mended really fast. I was glad their friendship got better and I’m excited for Kat’s journey with the car next! We do get to hear about some of Gemma’s tough past before she moved to the junkyard. The ending did feel rushed, we went from Easton & Gemma conflicted to a wrapped up HEA really fast and I wanted a little bit more time there.
