Publisher's summary

Mated werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham must discover what could make an entire community disappear - before it's too late - in this thrilling entry in the number one New York Times best-selling Alpha and Omega series.

In the wilds of the Northern California mountains, all the inhabitants of a small town have gone missing. It's as if the people picked up and left their possessions behind. With a mystery on their hands and no jurisdiction on private property, the FBI dumps the whole problem in the lap of the land owner, Aspen Creek, Inc. - a.k.a. the business organization of the Marrok's pack.

Somehow, the pack of the Wolf Who Rules is connected to a group of vanished people. Werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham are tasked with investigating and soon find that a deserted town is the least of the challenges they face.

Death sings in the forest, and when it calls, Charles and Anna must answer. Something has awakened in the heart of the California mountains, something old and dangerous - and it has met werewolves before.

Great as always

While I certainly wouldn’t start here it’s a lovely continuation of her works, there are two mingled series, one that starts with “alpha and omega” that’s this series and then the mercy series. It’s two series in the same world and the same extended family although two different locations (some interaction) and the time lines overlap so if you’re new I’d look for a guide for a chronological order to avoid spoilers.

TW for the book and the alpha and omega series in general

More off scene sexual assault — as always with Briggs it is tastefully handled
For instance no one is expected to meet their true love and be instantly healed of all trauma, never to be mentioned again.

Full of powerfully compelling storytelling.

I laughed, cried and shouted with outrage. A beautiful piece of work, but honestly, do we expect anything less than amazing from PB? Her work is truly aspiring.

WOW!!!

So good! I love Patty's writing, but have always preferred the Mercy Thompson series. This book catapulted Alpha & Omega into one of my favorite series in its own right! Excellent story, excellent characters, one of my favorite worlds to get lost in, I very highly recommend!!

Change Narrators.

For the love of God, please let someone besides Holter Graham do there story telling. He is a very dry narrator and can't change his tones to match the character they are all nearly identical. except for the time he made an 8yro girl sound like she smoked two packs a day for 30yrs. smh.

Marvelous book!

I always enjoy Patricia Briggs’s novels, and this one was no exception.

I did enjoy the depth it added to the character of Leah, who had previously been a bit on the two-dimensional side. And Holter Graham, as always, did a great job on the narration. The book was completely absorbing and takes the series in an interesting new direction.

oh, my heart

I loved this book. the prolog was a setup for the epilog! and all the storyline in-between!

Some of the book felt like it was a little bit filler. like it is setting up for a major arc. and then you realise that it is!

but it is fantastic all on its own and I just love these characters so much!

PATRICIA BRIGGS DOES IT AGAIN WITH WILD SIGN

I have read all of the other books in the Alpha and Omega Series so of course I had to read this one! The book is excellent, as usual for Patricia Briggs, and the narrator for this series, Holter Graham, is absolutely perfect.
