Publisher's summary

Danica Waterhouse is a fully modern witch - daughter, granddaughter, cousin, and co-owner of the Fix-It Witches, a magical tech repair shop. After a messy breakup that included way too much family feedback, Danica made a pact with her cousin: They'll keep their hearts protected and have fun, without involving any of the overly opinionated Waterhouse matriarchs. Danica is more than a little exhausted navigating a long-standing family feud where Gram thinks the only good mundane is a dead one and Danica's mother weaves floral crowns for anyone who crosses her path.

Three blocks down from the Fix-It Witches, Titus Winnaker, owner of Sugar Daddy's bakery, has family trouble of his own. After a tragic loss, all he's got left is his sister, the bakery, and a lifetime of terrible luck in love. Sure, business is sweet, but he can't seem to shake the romantic curse that's left him past 30 and still a virgin. He's decided he's doomed to be forever alone. But then he meets Danica Waterhouse. The sparks are instant; their attraction, irresistible. For him, she's the one. To her, he's a firebomb thrown in the middle of a family war. Can a modern witch find love with an old-fashioned mundane who refuses to settle for anything less than forever?

Wonderful and Funny!

This is romantic comedy with a twist. A magical twist. It is funny and heartwarming. You can’t help rooting for Danica and Titus. She is afraid to be with a mundane. She has been told that her line is cursed and that if she is with a mundane her powers will fade away to nothing. And her grandmother is determined that she marries in to a “pure” bloodline. And poor Titus can never get a break with relationships. They always leave within a few weeks of meeting him. He is afraid he is cursed. But the attraction between these two is of the charts. And when she does break it off with him she is despondent. She even tries suicide by cat. That is a one I have never heard before. If you want a quirky sweet romance this is the book to read.

And the audio version is great. I laughed out loud and had to rewind over the best and funniest parts.

DNF

Did not finish. I kept feeling like the angst was totally fabricated and not on par with the situations. And all the times where it was “I’m not gonna go for it” then she went for it were just too many. I muscled through for as long as I could but quit with four hours left.

Wokeness flavored

this was well enough written that i finished it but i couldn't get entusiastic about it. if you like virtue signaling this is your book. the male lead mentions his nissan leaf a bunch of times. so either he doesnt realize most of our electrical comes from coal power plants and the cobalt for those batteries is mined by kids in 3rd word countries in dangerous and unhealthy conditions or he doesn't care. kinda makes dog rescuing a little underwhelming. also when he said the thing about getting bullied for his male on male make out sesh in high school I kinda thought he came off like a soy boy. definitely was false advertising to put a bearded flannel wearing guy on the cover. and theres other stuff like almost no hetero representation and a bunch of other random woke try-hard stuff. i just couldn't relate or really get too emotionally invested

HEA

Well written and set in modern time so that was appreciated. However it felt like a book that was written in hopes of becoming a hallmark movie. No real hurdles other than the ones created by the main characters own drama.

hmm

I dont know about this one. I love witchy stuff. I love romance books. I really enjoyed the narrator, she did a good job. I just didn't love this book. I didn't dislike it. I just also didn't love it. I am not sure I will take the time to go on with the series. 🤷‍♀️

Cute story

It’s a cute book with cute story line. Nothing too crazy but still interesting enough to continue on to book 2

Not what was expected

This book was described as Gilmore Girls meets Practical Magic. With that, I expected some quick witted banter coupled with a mysterious magical twist, but did not get that with this book.
The reader did great with the story she had to read.

halfway through and I'm so annoyed

idk if I can finish, the story's so contrived and the characters aren't believable. I love romance but this is so cheesy and I'm groaning in not a good way.

Well just not into it.

So it was so left leaning environmental characters I was like fine. However, I am a woman who isn't in to woke politics and was looking from an escape from the real world. I am too #superstraight for this bisexual mopey boy character in this book. sorry just not for me.

Truly a disappointment

The characters were poorly developed and weak. The love story left me cold and slightly nauseated. What could have been a good story was just lost.
