Have you ever wondered what happens when you die? If there is a God? And did he ever have a plan for the world?
When committed rationalist and atheist, Ralph, dies on his honeymoon he discovers, much to his unhappy surprise, the answers to all of these questions.
He finds himself on a cloud and working for a God who is very unhappy that his plan for the world has all gone horribly wrong. And if Ralph is ever going to make it through the pearly gates to enjoy an afterlife with his late (but still much loved) bride, he has to go back and fix the world.
A very tongue-in-cheek satirical take on religion, belief and petty office politics, this sitcom is bursting with imaginative, fresh writing.
With added dodos....

Sarah and her husband have died on their honeymoon. Sarah believes in God. Ralph is an Atheist.
When they die, Sarah goes straight to heaven while Ralph finds himself working as an intern on a small cloud with no access to heaven.
First he needs to be convinced that he is actually dead and not just hallucinating. Then he needs to figure out how he can get to heaven to see his wife.
Sounds easy right? Not so much! This short comedy book is pretty funny and at the same time is full of sarcastic and biting wit.
God pays a visit to Ralph's boss. She is in charge of Earth and in reporting to him the number of believers and followers that God has on that planet. However, the last time he checked up on Earth, the dodo bird still existed and the last prayer he paid attention to was from a Roman gladiator. God has ignored Earth for close to 2000 years. Why is he so interested now?
If Ralph is ever going to see his wife again he needs to accumulate 100 points. This episode he earns a single point. Obviously the set-up is there to make this a 100 episode sitcom on Audible.
Audible has created a few short pilot episodes of various serials and offered them up as free downloads. People are needed to vote for the best one and that one will continue to be produced.
I rate this audiobook as 3 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐
It was funny, but the concept of being dead and having to earn your way into heaven has been done so many times before that I believe the idea lacks true originality.
I did enjoy it and I have not yet listened to the other "sitcom pilots" so I am not yet sure which one I will vote for.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
No one.Has Working for the Big Man turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I'd give Audible more chances to show they can produce a funny program, but a this point I would recommend a completely new set of editors.Any additional comments?
The horrible boss who really doesn't have a clue, the "I've given up" manager, and the hapless new guy - funny if handled well. However, practically every genre is littered with examples of how bad it can be when it is not and this is one of the times it is not well done.Done to death concept
