Publisher's summary

In this sequel to the best-selling fantasy thriller Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what’s left of the modern world. When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans, where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

Narration is excellent by Caitlin Davies

I'm really enjoying this series, but this 2nd installment got a little slow without one of the main characters for most of the entire book. I feel the characters are paired as a team and as such, the story isn't quite as intriguing with one of them missing. It's still an excellent story, however, and the narration by Davies makes it that much more enjoyable.

WORLD AFTER - - - WONDERFUL BOOK

This second book Susan Ee wrote is as good as the first. Again, I would like to see a man do the mans voice, but keep a womans voice also. I sure hope there is another book or so, as this last one left me hanging. What a cliff hanger. What's going to happen next to Paige, Penryn and Raff???? Kept me wondering all through the book and the action is something else.

This book is a solid 4 and a half!

What made the experience of listening to World After the most enjoyable?

The first book of the series started off a little weak with fresh ideas but got better towards the end. This book in the series way exceeds the first. I am very much looking forward to the 3rd book. Love it! Also, the narrator sounds young, but she can really spin different voices :)

Unexpected Turns Ahead

Holy Angel Wings. This story took a new turn into chaos. I loved the first book, "Angelfall," and really liked this one as well. It is just as well done as the first, but Raffe didn't feature directly as much in this volume. Without him, Penryn was a little more...ordinary. Her display of fiery temper and pure protectiveness was dampened just a little.

Still, this remains an awesome read for those who enjoy this kind of angel war/apocalyptic fantasy. It definitely went in directions I wasn't expecting. If this were a mystery read, I would have to admit to being completely buffaloed by the series of events. As it is, I'll just admit to being awed.

The characters remain strong and engaging, the pace is lightning-quick, and the aforementioned plot definitely keeps readers on the edge of their seats. I can't wait to get into the final installment of this mind-blowing series. If you haven't started it, I recommend beginning with book one, "Angelfall" for best enjoyment and comprehension.
