About this listen

A toxic ex.

A girl who lost herself.

A childhood friend helping her find the way back.

When Hailey finally ends her relationship with her narcissistic ex-boyfriend, she thinks all her troubles have ended. But what she doesn’t realize is that the wounds he inflicted aren’t on her skin, but in the way she sees herself. And the only person capable of helping her heal has been in her corner all her life.

Jax has had a soft spot for the younger Porter sister ever since his family moved into their neighborhood. It feels like the most natural thing in the world to go from helping her with math homework, to holding her hand through a rough breakup years later. But as he starts to show her how beautiful and worthy she already is, he himself starts to notice the incredible woman that she grew up to be.

While Hailey struggles to balance finding her strength with navigating her budding attraction to her older sister's best friend, Jax has to decide if his new feelings for Hailey are helping or hurting her journey.

Can Jax and Hailey start something new while the past is hovering over their heads? Or will Hailey’s scars hurt them both?

2 Fights is the second novel in the Fight Game series but can be listened to as a standalone. It is a friends-to-lovers sports romance featuring strong language and explicit sexual scenes. Listener discretion is advised!

Even Better on Audio

I love this book! It’s my favorite of the series (at least so far) but the audio is just next level! The narrators were perfectly cast and the duet narration came out perfect!

A friends to lovers fighter romance with an INCREDIBLE duet narration!!!!

WOW! This audiobook made me completely fall in love with Jax and Hailey!!! It’s a DUET narration that just took this story to the next level and I did not want to hit pause as I was so adsorbed into the story from their incredible performance! Thank YOU Nikki for putting so much care into your audiobooks as it shows and completely pays off!

📖2 Fights is such a powerful story that takes you on a journey and is truly a hard fought HEA. Hailey has endured so much toxicity and emotional abuse from her ex Steve that broke her down. While her sister’s best friend, Jax has always been there to support her, now their relationship begins to develop into more. Their romance is such a beautiful story of Hailey taking back her power while also getting so much support, care and love from Jax along the way. He was so perfect for her in every way including the small things such as allowing her to have every desire in the bedroom that she wanted which she had been made to feel ashamed about. And let me just say, that spice was SMOKING HOT in this book!!! Jax has quite the mouth on him and is definitely a king of dirty talk!!

🎧AUDIO REVIEW:
OUTSTANDING on audio!! It's a DUET narration by J.F. Harding and Emma Wilder who both took the words of this story and completely breathed life into them!!! They did a phenomenal job using their voices to perfectly express all of the deep feelings and emotions of their characters while also bringing out the palpable chemistry and of course sexy heat between them. There were moments where you could just feel the weight of sorrow in their voices during the tough moments and then the next chapter fanning yourself off listening to the dirty mouth of Jax in J.F. Harding’s deep sultry tone.

Overall, this is truly an audiobook that feels like you are watching their romance all play out on a screen as the acting skills of J.F. Harding and Emma Wilder perfectly captured Jax & Hailey as navigate their relationship turning from friendship to more from the hard moments to the sexy times. Simply incredible and easily one that I will be listening to again!!!

They’re my favorite

Jax and Hailey the second time around was so dang good and on audio was pure perfection. Duet none the less was absolutely amazing. I still hate Steve, possibly even more than before! But just love how much Jax is there to support Hailey and be her rock and encourage her.

Emma Wilder is one of my favorite female narrators, so having her apart of one of my favorite authors books was such a delight. JF Harding is one I haven’t listened to too much, but I will definitely look for more audios with him after this one. They were such an ear pleasure together!

*prior review from original read*
Oh my goodness! I was ready for Jax and Hailey, but so not ready for them. Jax is so filthy and HOT! Fan me now! I loved everything about them and their relationship and how it blossomed.

We start with Hailey in that toxic relationship with Steve, blah! We are well aware of what she went through from 5 Rounds, and clearly I can’t imagine anyone is a fan of Steve. It sets us up to learn a lot more about Hailey and who she was and how that relationship changed her and then watch her come into her own again after.

Jax is Haileys older sister, Remy’s best friend. Though the relationship between Hailey and Jax has always been something different. He is fiercely protective over her and clearly cares about her deeply. Nothing was every right time or right place for them. First it was age but then relationships got in the way, until now. These two don’t want to deny the way they feel about each other, but still feel this awkward presence of Rem effecting them.

I just absolutely obsess over how Nikki Castle writes her men! They are strong and protective and possessive and dirty in all the ways that count. Her steam is top notch and her story line is incredible. You can watch something bloom and unfold on the pages before you. She is going to be a force with upcoming books, I just know it.

Great sophomore book to the series

Overall Thoughts: I adored 5 rounds when I listened to it earlier this year, but 2 Fights was even better. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this book, from the plot to character development, the believability of the characters, and the narration was on point. Nikki takes great care and pride in her work and it shows. The natural shift in Jax and Hailey’s relationship is fun and interesting to watch, and the spice is so, so good. Emma Wilder gave an incredible performance, I hope she receives an award for this narration, and JF Harding who is one of my top narrators, made me melt into a puddle every time he called her ‘baby girl’. Swoon!

Narration: Duet narration, first-person present tense, multiple-POV with a few flashbacks

Tropes: mentally/emotionally abusive ex, boxer, café manager, sister’s best friend, childhood friends, exploring kinks, shows what a healthy relationship is, college student, trip to Vegas, finding herself again, dancer, baker, dirty talking MMC

Overall: 5

Spice: 3.5

Humor: 2.5

Drama: 3.5

Darkness: 2.5

Hailey has been with Steve for two years, but the relationship is taxing and when she finally realizes she is dating a narcissist, and he continues to shame and gaslight her, she finally stands up and dumps his sorry ass.

She moves in with her sister while she figures out her next steps while going to school and working at the café. She gets to reconnect with her sister and her friends who Steve had alienated her from for a long time, which includes her sister’s best friend, Jax. Things heat up and they try and fight their feelings, but eventually the dam breaks and they give in to their attraction.

Remy is worried that Hailey is moving on too soon and they will both end up getting hurt. When Jax sees how badly Steve damaged Hailey’s self-esteem, he has to make a decision about how best to help Hailey, even if it means breaking his own heart in the process.

I’ll be Jax’s Queen or…..

Story: 12/10
Spice:5/5
Spice Hierarchy: Spicy
Narration: 5/5, duet

Hailey is worth the worst human in Steve (narcissistic, gas-lighting, manipulative). When she finally gets the strength and courage to leave, her sister’s best friend and her childhood crush is there, Jax. Jax builds Hailey up again and again in every way possible. But does Hailey know how to be herself if she’s not in a relationship?

I LOVE the way Nikki wrote Hailey. It portrays those horrible relationships and mentality of “why don’t they just leave?” Seeing Hailey reclaim so many aspects of her life and finding her voice honestly is the type of strength I hope to show my daughters.

And now Jax. That man. He is perfect. And filthy. And loving.

I remembered loving Jax. And I remember my heart hurting for both Jax and Hailey. But I didn’t remember it hurting like this.

Emma and JF delivered with this duet narration. They were both so even and perfectly suited for Hailey and Jax. But I’m not sure I can call my daughter “baby girl” anymore.

I loved getting back to this story. When Nikki first released 2 Fights I was intrigued so I read 5 Rounds to prepare myself (not necessary but don’t be a silly goose-read it too). I’ve been hooked on Nikki since.

Love a good Friends to Lovers book!

Emma Wilder and J. F. Harding did such a fantastic job at bringing Hailey and Jax off the pages of this book!

Jax is best friends with Hailey’s sister Remy and best friends with Tristan, Remy’s boyfriend. He is realizing that he love his corporate job and doesn’t want to fight in the ring anymore.
Hailey realizes that she is in a toxic relationship and has to get out of it and get back to the woman she used to be.
Jax has this need to help Hailey with getting back to who she used to be and help her realize that it is okay to ask for what you want in the bedroom.

“Let me make you feel good. Let me show you how it feels when a man would if he couldn’t have you.”

Even better in audio

Jax and Hailey on audio are out of this world. Emma Wilder and J.F. Harding are the perfect casting in this book. You can tell the various characters are changing based on how their voices change.
This book is friends to lovers within a friend group. We return to Bulldog MMA with Remy’s sister, Hailey. Jax and Hailey are familiar with each other as old family friends. Hailey is able to find her strength to save herself from a verbally abusive relationship, and Jax gave her room to grow. Jax is one of my favorite MMCs I have read, and hearing him on audio was so good. If you love a tough man, who is soft (and can be the opposite) with his woman he is the one.

Sports romance (MMA), best friend’s sister romance, with heavy emotions!

2 Fights is the 2nd book in The Fight Game series. We get hints of this couple in the first book and I was so excited to see their romance play out. The audiobooks for book 1 and 2 recently released and it was the best experience rereading that way! This is an amazing contemporary romance series centered around characters in the MMA world and set in Philadelphia. This book is best friend’s younger sister, with the hero being childhood best friends with the heroine’s sister.

This book does start off with a heavier, emotional story dealing with domestic abuse. Thankfully Hailey does get out of that relationship but she, rightfully so, has a lot of baggage and things to unpack from that experience. Around this same time, Hailey quickly gets into a relationship with one of her childhood friends, and her sister’s best friend, Jax. Jax has been in her life since she was 10 and they were neighbors, he’s always been her protector and it was so nice to see them both start to have feelings for one another at the same time. There wasn’t any long term pining happening, they both just started to see one another differently at the same time.

I just really enjoyed this book just like I did the first book. This one starts off before events of the first book but then does also catchup and have some overlap, I liked seeing Remy and Tristan (the couple of book 1). Remy is Hailey’s sister and Jax’s best friend, Tristan is Remy’s boyfriend and Jax’s roommate. We do see both Jax and Hailey figuring out their career paths, Jax considering retiring from MMA and focusing on his day job and Hailey juggling college, a job in the restaurant business with her dreams of opening a restaurant one day. There is some delicious sharing of a hotel room/one bed for a trip they take together. I really enjoyed their connection and chemistry. And I really liked how Hailey’s previous toxic relationship was handled, she didn’t know how to be in a healthy relationship where there is honest communication and she had a lot to work through. I liked how the book shows how hard it is for someone to leave an abusive relationship or even come to terms with the fact that the partner they are with is toxic. I think it was handled really well. We also get a glimpse of the next book’s couple!

There wasn't, and will never be, anyone else.

Nikki Castle blew me away the first time I read this. But listening to it? It’s too good!

This is the story of Hailey and Jax and how two friends become everything. It’s also an example of what gaslighting is and how it can make you feel. And finally, it’s a story of being with the right person. The one who can only make you feel like you’re everything.
These two are perfect together. What makes it even more perfect? Emma Wilder and JF Harding.

Emma is incredible. She gives us a tour of Hailey’s relationship with her ex that feels real. She shows us Hailey’s strength when she leaves him behind and takes charge of her life. She shows us her power every time she tells Jax what she wants.
JF Harding is the perfect Jax. He’s the hot, self-assured, in-control MMA fighter, but also the sweet, protective friend. The guy who’s always been there for Hailey and who can’t stop thinking about her. The guy who finally gives her what she wants and loves all sides of her.
Also… JF Harding nails “baby girl,” but my favorite was actually “quiet.”

Hailey and Jax have known each other forever. Now that she's single and they spend more time together, the lines between friendship and more become blurry.
Their chemistry was amazing in the book but insane in the audio. The way Jax empowers her, the way she asks for what she wants without fear of judgment, knowing she’s safe with him. It was heartwarming while being so, so HOT.

What got to me more in the audio was how Jax only wants her to be happy, even when it hurts him. Chapter 26 broke me. We all deserve, and I wish we all had, a Jax in our lives.

Listening to Hailey's journey? Incredible. Listening to Jax give her everything, even what she didn’t realize she needed? Extraordinary.
Their happily ever after? Perfect.

Audio matched perfectly with my image of these two.

2 Fights ALC
**Book Review: 2 Fights on Audio**

I listened to this book after having read it twice!

If you're craving an MMA romance where the main character is a lovable, golden-retriever-type alpha with just the right amount of edge, this book delivers. I flew through it, captivated by the dynamic between Jax and Halley.
Having known each other for years, they have an unspoken connection that's both comforting and sizzling. Watching Jax be there for Hailey as she breaks free from an emotionally abusive relationship (one he witnessed parts of firsthand) makes every page ache with emotion and anticipation.

Jax's endearing use of "Baby Girl" sent shivers every time-he's that blend of sweet and dominant that's hard to resist. I only wish my first experience of him saying it had been through the audio version! Both narrators brought their A-game, with Jax's voice being especially memorable and perfectly suited for his character. While it took me a little longer to fully settle into the FMC's voice as Hailey, the narrators' performances ultimately made this a deeply immersive experience. This book is a perfect pick for fans of friends-to-lovers romance with a lot of heart and a sprinkle of hard-hitting MMA action.
