Critic reviews

"Cox is fantastically unshockable. She has the practical, unsqueamish air of a doctor without the white coat." (The Observer)

"Great Sex Starts at 50 upends the notion that people over a certain age have lost all interest in sex. Cox offers readers research, suggests techniques, and collects personal anecdotes aimed at helping women - she interviewed hundreds of them, ages 45 to 80 - reinvigorate or reaffirm their sexual desires.... Both practical and explicit." (Publishers Weekly)

"What distinguishes her from other so-called sexperts is an ability to talk with candor and a sense of empathy.... This is the heart of her appeal, the ability to talk about sex in a universal way." (The London Times)

Valuable information for 50 somethings

I highly recommend this book to anyone between the ages of 30 and 90, as Tracey's wisdom offers a roadmap for navigating the complexities of sex after 50 and also things to be aware of in the future for younger people.

Transformative

I picked up this book because...you guessed it...I recently hit 50. I love doing research on how to make my health and life in general, better. This book gave me insight into things I've thought about, but didn't research further.

Fatphobia has ruined an otherwise useful book

This book is very well collated, well read, and contains some excellent and empowering information. However, the frequent dismissal of obesity as a real problem, the lack of an informed perspective on body positivity for obese individuals, and (in Ch 4 I believe) the blunt statement that obesity is a simple result of gluttony and laziness, has left a sour taste for me. I expect a more nuanced work from scholars who are writing about intimate topics.
I am unable to recommend this book to any of my colleagues or friends.
