GOODREADS AUTHOR OF THE YEAR NOMINEE, 2012

Too hot to handle....

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos—the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship....

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more—much more—he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn....

Love the series but the narrator makes the book hard to listen

I'm making my way through most of Kristen Ashely's books and LOVE THEM. This one was harder to get through because the narrator sounded like an upgraded version of Siri. Seriously computer-esque. It looks like there's another narrator for the rest of the series, so that will hopefully be a redeeming quality to the storyline.

Why so angry?

I liked the story but no one comes close to Tack and Tyra’s book. The narrator though was okay in the female POV but scary in the male voices. They sounded like serial killers.

Ah.. Ma.... ZING!!!!!! Simply Amazing!!!!

WOW WOW WOW! I was so not expecting this. This book was so dang good, I took off work early to finish listening. That bad review that say the narrator was not good... was dead wrong. You can totally tell males from females and none of the characters sound alike. Now you can tell when the narrator recorded it, then went back later and re-recorded a part... but it is such a slight shift in volume, that it doesn't even take away from the story.

I like how this book starts... The prologue, which is like 2 chapters long, is read from Shy's POV. Shy is such a bad-to-the-bone...biker boss! He maintains his total badassness the entire book long. When I say the entire book, the entire. I loved it. This writer stayed so true to her characters.. ALL of the THEM...! I loved it when Shy and his brothers, totally kicked Tab's boss butt. That is what bikers do... Then the scene when Shy is face to face with the guy that murder his parents. See.. this is what I am talking about. THis is how you write a biker story.. Shy was not playing around... he was Chaos through and through... then OMG.. then chapter when the brothers asked for his cut (his colors) OMG!!! OMG!!

Now... Tab or Tabby, so after the prologue, the book is read from Tab's POV, but other characters are POV are read in third person. This is such an interesting way of writing... I loved it. So, Tabby is the princess of the mc, and I love how she got out of the life, without ever really leaving, then her relationship with Shy...so great from beginning to end. But the ultimate angst is when she saw Shy with his girl... OMG! Then when she decides to leave... DUDE! The way Shy comes over and tells her that she is not leaving... I was blushing, gushing and just wrapped all up in it. Sooo Good..

THis is like a beginning to end life story for these two characters. Great ending too. So much action, I never wanted to skipped...just a straight through listen. It is long, really long...but so worth it.

Narration was awesome. I don't usually give 5, unless a book blows me away, and this blew me away. I have been hunting for biker books for the last 2 days.

A buy or credit. Yes Yes...

Need new narrator

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

All Kristen Ashley books are awesome but not narrated like this!!!

What didn’t you like about Angela Starling’s performance?

No distinction between male characters and she yelled each line of male dialogue. I get these are alpha male bikers, but there is no way they speak to each to each other (and everyone else) like that all the time. It kinda made me hate Shy. (I've read this book before and didn't feel that way.) And Tyra is from Ohio, she doesn't have a southern accent. The narration frustrated me so much, that I couldn't finish listening, and I love Kristen Ashley books. This is not a reflection on the story, just the narration.

Sounds like a computer generated voice

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not sure - only 1 hour into the book. Don't know if I can finish it because the reader's voice sounds like it is computer generated.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Haven't finished it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Angela Starling’s performances?

Definitely not. I am not sure I can finish the book because the narration is so bad.

Did Own the Wind inspire you to do anything?

Start a new book because I can't listen to the narrator any longer.

Any additional comments?

Considering returning the book and hope they re-record it with a different narrator.

excellent but not as good as prior KA books

At first I had a problem with the narrator, feeling she had the wrong voice...but then I realized she has two different speech patterns for 1st and 3rd person narrating. It rook about 4 chapters to figure this out and once I did I was enjoying the story. Story lacks the intensity of other KA series...but still a very good book.

More Kristen Ashley!

What did you love best about Own the Wind?

Kristen Ashley 's story though it helps to have read the earlier books in this series.

What did you like best about this story?

I was looking forward to reading Tabby's story.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

This was the weakest part. Very little distinction between characters. Little emotion. Not like a true professional reader where you are not distracted by the reading of the story.

Any additional comments?

I hope that there will be more Kristen Ashley books on audible. I really don't like it when they start in the middle of a series. Hopefully audible will improve the narrator and offer Ashley 's complete series including Rock Chicks, 'Burg series, Colorado series, Dream Man series, and Unfinished Heroes.
