About this listen

Public Relations expert Emery Bates has exactly one problem she's willing to admit, and it's that she doesn't have a girlfriend to take as her date to a wedding. Not because she needs a girlfriend, but because she needs an easier way to come out to college friends that she hasn't seen in five years. Her job is about controlling the narrative, and as she sees it, there's no reason why that can't extend to her personal life. When her next door neighbor ends up single a few weeks before the wedding, problem solver Emery realizes inviting Jordan along and faking romance for a week in Hawaii could be perfect for both of them.

Jordan Davis doesn't worry about much, especially what will happen tomorrow. Life's too short to plan every second, and it usually doesn't work out anyway. When Emery invites her on an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii, it's not a hard sell. She'll get to enjoy a tropical vacation with one of her closest friends, and she'll get to spend more time with Emery, away from Emery's hectic work schedule back in Austin. But, there's more to the request than Emery's letting on, and there's more to Jordan's willingness to help than she wants to admit. Faking it is all about the spin, but when lines begin to blur, both women have to decide if falling in love for real is worth the jump.

Contains mature themes.

I don't know if it was my state of mind or this book - or a bit of both - but I wasn't fully captivated by the story. The plot was predictable, I kept hoping for some sort of a surprise along the way, but it never came. I feel I've heard and read the same story a million times, and unfortunately, the sapphic spin on it didn't make it that much different.

All that being said, I loved the narration. The book is okay, and maybe for someone, it is amazing. If you're up for some fairly easy listening, this might be your book.

Predictable

Aww, this was super cute!

Neighbors, Jordan and Emery, head to Hawaii for a wedding pretending to be in a relationship to help Emery come out to her college friends. A romantic getaway on a tropical island - things happen! But there's more to it than Emery coming out... It gets a little messy as vacation time nears the end.

Jordan and Emery have a cute connection... almost like opposites attract, but they really get along, and I love their banter.

Good Spin ❤️

Very belivable sapphic chemistry, steamy sex(though late in the story). The thing is, for me, it was a typical annoying case of a whole romance based on difficulty of communication. And even though it had a classic villain(with no nuances) it still relied on this poor communication skills as the biggest conflit. It doesn’t explore the side characters much either. Good to pass the time, but i had read the flaw in our design, and so, i was expecting a lot more. i am just begining Back in your arms, lets see where it falls

Good, but it could be better

I really enjoyed this book, characters were great at times predictable but still likeable. Lori Prince can read anything and it's magic, you'll surely enjoy this story.

Relaxing, chill. listen. Great narrator.

A week in Hawaii is the background of the story, a sad past love and a friendship leading to love, is an OK book not really any drama.
Narration as always was excellent and that saved the book.

An OK book

I just enjoyed everything about this book. From the plot, the flow and the narrator, it just worked so brilliantly. I would recommend this listen!

So good

This was a sweet story with lots of angst, heat, and a slow burn. Both of the MCs were likable and relatable. The only thing I wish is that the book was longer. I feel like there could have been more content in the beginning to give the MCs’ relationship a backstory. It would have been great to watch them become friends and navigate their emerging feelings before taking the trip to Hawaii. Overall, this was a wonderful listen, and Lori Prince was excellent as always.

Angsty, hot, slow burn

I enjoyed the story despite the fact that it did not develop the cast of characters as well as I would have liked. It won’t keep me from trying another book from this amazingly descriptive author. She makes it easy to visualize every scene and I love it.

Great story; bad ending
