About this listen

Only his memories can save her…

A great primal power has risen. The Queen of Flesh and Fire has become the Primal of Blood and Bone—the true Primal of Life and Death. And the battle Casteel, Poppy, and their allies have been fighting has only just begun. Gods are awakening across Iliseeum and the mortal realm, readying for the war to come.

But when Poppy falls into stasis, Cas faces the very real possibility that the dire, unexpected consequences of what she is becoming could take her away from him. Cas is given some advice, though—something he plans to cling to as he waits to see her beautiful eyes open once more: Talk to her.

And so, he does. He reminds Poppy how their journey began, revealing things about himself that only Kieran knows in the process. But it’s anybody’s guess what she’ll wake to or exactly how much of the realm and Cas will have changed when she does.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout revisits Poppy and Casteel’s epic love story in the next installment of the Blood and Ash series. But this time, Hawke gets to tell the tale.

Critic reviews

“Narrator Tim Campbell returns to the role of Casteel Da'Neer in the fifth book in the Blood and Ash series.… Tim Campbell captures the sarcastic and flirtatious sides of the prince. Campbell's sonorous voice is as easy to fall in love with as the character of Casteel, making Campbell the perfect casting choice.”AudioFile Magazine

“Expertly and vividly performed with the impressive narrative vocal styles of Tim Campbell, this…will have a very special attraction to fans of vampire romance fantasy fiction. Original, self-contained, and a must for the growing legions of Jennifer L. Armentrout fans.”Midwest Book Review

Absolutely amazing!

Great addition to a great series! Narrator was good too! I am really glad that the original narrator for poppy helped direct because his narrations really fit into the whole vibe and mood of how everything was originally portrayed. Great listen!

Loved it!!!!!

I really enjoyed this new edition to the series. I loved going back to see everything from Cas’s perspective. Overall, this was very well done.

Also, I love this reader. His voice is amazing and was perfect for Casteel, he had done an amazing job in the last book and continues to do so in this one.

Eh just skip to the end

Eh just skip through to the “present” chapters. The last chapter has the most exciting part. 🙄

Casteel’s POV & fantastic narration

This was a heartwarming homecoming getting to revisit book 1 (and book 1 only) from Casteel’s POV. The plot only moves forward in the last couple of chapters, so if that’s what you are looking for in this book, you will be dissatisfied. Revisiting it from Casteel’s perspective was simultaneously familiar and new but also thoroughly enjoyable.

The narration was perfect. When I first heard the male narrator in the books I was sorely disappointed as I had become accustomed to the female narrator’s “Casteel’s voice.” I quickly overcame that obstacle and fell in love with that version of Casteel’s POV. The narrator brings Cas to life. I absolutely adored it.

Beautiful!

I loved Casteel’s perspective! At first I was a bit confused as to why it was going through, essentially, events from the first book, but by the end it all came together beautifully. I personally enjoyed the narrator and his deep voice. His voice for the females had me cracking up! If you love From Blood and Ash, you’ll love this. Definitely written better than the last!

not enough

it seems like a cop out for easy money. it would have been nice if we got 2 books covered instead of the first one. overall for how long it is it should have had more content.

I didn’t know what I expected but it wasn’t that!

Amazing to say the least!
Jennifer has done it again! I didn’t think I could love this series more, but hearing it all from Casteels POV was soooo good.
I 100% did not see that end coming! She needs to release the next book asap!
