About this listen

In Thorne Manor there is one locked door. Behind it lies a portal to the 21st century, and nothing is going to stop Miranda Hastings from stepping through. After all, she is a Victorian writer of risqué pirate adventures—traveling to the future would be the greatest adventure of them all.

When Miranda goes through, though, she lands in Georgian England...and in the path of Nicolas Dupuis, a privateer accused of piracy. Sheltered by locals, Nico is repaying their kindness by being their “pirate Robin Hood”, stealing from a corrupt lord and fencing smuggled goods on the village’s behalf.

Miranda embraces Nico’s cause, only to discover there’s more to it than he realizes. Miranda has the second sight, and there are ghosts at play here. The recently deceased former lord is desperate to stop his son from destroying his beloved village. Then there’s the ghost of Nico’s cabin boy, whom he thought safe in a neighboring city. Miranda and Nico must solve the mystery of the boy’s death while keeping one step ahead of the hangman.

It may not be the escapade Miranda imagined, but it is about to be the adventure of a lifetime.

Not bad

I am a HUGE Kelley Armstrong fan, and loved the first 2 books in this series, but this one wasn’t my favorite. I didn’t fall in love with the characters like I normally do, and the story was a bit repetitive for me. Not bad, I finished it, but not a top 10 of her books for me.

amazingly captivating

My only complaint with the series is that I did not discover it later on when there were more books these books are so wonderful I could stay lost in them for months . after this book I am excited for Miranda's future adventures I'm anxious for porcha to find her way through the stitch. I just need more

Decent story but narrator's accent is bad

Overall the storyline is good with enough excitement. Like some reviewers mentioned, the narrator's French accent is really bad. There are few times when I want to just read the book and give up on the audio version.

⚔️ Swords and Scoundrels

Truly picturesque details in the descriptions of the ships. Which reminded me of my first on -screen heart ❤️ throb. Errol Flynn as a pirate🤪. Now in my 70’s it is a joy to hear a very modern TT version of Pirates and sailing Ships.

narrarator

I loved the storyline of all 3 books. However , this last book I did not like the voice of Niko .it was really bad. But, because I liked the story so much, I pushed through it. I almost quit

a fun listen

this is a very enjoyable series, it's more fun than riveting the characters are very self evolved which makes their dialogue a little flat and it's idealistic. But with that said I can't stop listening to the series and I'm already looking forward to more in this series.

They Just Keep Getting Better!

I am thoroughly enjoying this book series! I blew through this one, and at the time I write this, I am already halfway through Book Four. The ONLY negative with this story is that I didn't care for the way the narrator did the voice of the French male lead. It was distracting at first and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish it, but the book quickly reeled me in, and I no longer gave a second thought to the male character's voice. I loved Miranda and Nico, and I love how tender their relationship is as he teaches her what true love from a man really feels like. This is an especially great element in this story, because Miranda is so fiercely strong and independent!

As I said in my reviews of the first two books, I rarely give out five stars. A book has to meet certain criteria for me to give five stars- one being that it has to be a truly epic tale, and the other being that I will be thinking about it for weeks after I've finished it. I can already tell this series is meeting that criteria, and I will recommend it to all my friends. I was eager to give this five stars, and I already know I will with Book Four, as well.

I absolutely LOVE this author so far. She is so talented in her writing, because she seemlessly blends suspense, drama, and comedy. This series has just the right amount of romance and steam without smut, and just the right amount of spookiness without horror. I love how the secondary ghost stories are woven in between the main storylines. So much going on at once, yet it flows perfectly. I will be so sad when this series is over!!
