Publisher's summary

Lennox used to live in a paradise on earth with his best friend, Jamie, in a place where visitors came and went, allowing their desires to run free. But everything changes when a deadly attack forces them to take up with Connor Mackenzie's band of Outlaws. Lennox knows that Jamie is hung up on someone else, but he's always believed that he's the man for her - and he won't let her go without a fight.

Even though Jamie is well aware that Lennox is one hot specimen of a man, she refuses to let sex ruin the most important relationship in her life. But when the object of her interest spurns her, she indulges in a little pleasure-filled revenge with her very magnetic, very willing best friend. One thrilling night with Lennox is enough to awaken Jamie's unexpected desires for him. And now that she's had a taste, she's not sure she can ever give him up....

Lennox and Jamie’s story

Long time friends, turned lovers. Lots of miscommunication and some immaturity between the two. Character development in the way that they learn to communicate better and compromise.

More emotionally intense than Book one!

Wow, I admit, I have red swollen eyes. There were some sad and touching moments, in this book; it did me in. One reason it was more intense is that I knew the characters better. I had become engrossed in their lives and wanted the best, for all of them. Unfortunately, as in real life, that is not always the case. There is a lot going on, in this book but, it all centers around Jaime and Lennox and their complicated relationship. With that being said, there is still glimpses into other relationships that might be giving a few hints about future books.

This book spurred a few conversations with my husband. I have made comments, now and in the past, about how most modern day people, especially we spoiled Americans, would be totally unprepared to live in a world like the outlaws world, in this book. We are to reliant on the government and modern industries to be able to survive without these crutches. It does give you something to think about, for sure. I grew up around farming and ranching communities and was taught hunting, fishing, farming and basic mechanics and the like but, I doubt that I would adjust easily to this outlaw world. Therefore, I not only found this book entertaining, I found it quite thought provoking.

Absolutely Hot Series!

The 2 books I've read (Claimed) and this one are hot from the first pages. Both men and women who know what they want and aren't afraid to go after it It is a very sexual series so buyer beware. It reminds me of the Kit Rocha series Beyond.

Set in the very future but not thousands of years ahead. After some great war or natural disaster has changed how people live. The Outlaws want to live their life their way in kind of a biker/hippie way. Just trying to survive. Then their are the other fractions and conflicts that happen between them.

I'm going to have to purchase the 3rd book of the series - it is just that good!

I really enjoyed most of the story but...

I really enjoyed most of the story and I think Elle Kennedy is a great author. BUT, Jaime is a spoiled brat with no self preservation and no respect for what her longest held relationship has to say. just because he's acting like a man doesn't mean she has to act like a spoiled brat. She knows how dangerous is was for them to be outside of camp at the library and yet she still went off by herself AND she still didn't think it was a big deal that she was almost raped and gang banged!! They definitely have communication issues. and he is definitely not the luckiest man in the world. Good luck Lennox.

The worst h ever!

1.75 Stars

The h is a -3
The H is a 7

The h is a self-indulgent pain in the a$$ throughout the entire story and never improves. She acts like her word is gold and twists every scene to suit her. When the H disagrees or holds information back, she goes off half-cocked and does a ton of TSTL things.

Her idiotic decisions towards the end of the story gets a guy killed as she keeps the H from investigating a situation that doesn't seem right then pushes him for sex. What really drove me nuts is that the author essentially blamed the H for break between the MCs, even though it was caused by the extreme immaturity of the h. There are times when information needs to be withheld for security reasons.

The h also challenges the OW to a battle during training and essentially beats her to a pulp because she 'assumed' that she recently slept with the H... which did not happen.

Book 1 has the H as a piece of garbage.
Book 2 returns the favor with a horrible h!
What will book 3 bring? Hopefully an ending.

Good grief!

The annoyances took over my enjoyment of this book:

1) Failure to Communicate
-Lennox and Jamie have been best friends forever, yet can’t even once communicate
-They seal the deal at the 4 hour mark … and then spend another 4.5 hrs failing to communicate
-She’s the kind of impulsive brat who pummels another women on a mere suggestion her man strayed
(moreover, she resorts to pummeling instead of, hellooo, communicating)
-He’s a hot-N-cold caveman who’s known Jamie’s into him since 16 and yet keeps her in the friend zone … until they start having sex and then it’s “you’re mine” and “you can’t go anywhere without me, ever.”

2) This is 50% sex, 30% romance, 10% setting up book 3’s throuple, and 10% dystopian story.
-The amount of sex cannot be understated: exhibitionism, FM, MFM, MM, with audiences, while on scavenging missions, even when the enemy is occupying their compound.
-Worse than the quantity, however, is the quality: there’s no intimacy, just shagging

3) Those accents!
-For a side character, I could get past the horrible Scottish accent. But, the narrator’s voice for Rylan make’s him sound like a 13 year old hillbilly. Rylan gets a lot of screen time on this book and a part of my romance loving soul died every time I heard his voice. I only continued with book 3 because I purchased them together. It was torture as Rylan became the lead. I nonetheless enjoyed book 3’s story.

Did not finish

This was labeled. Incorrectly. It's science fiction with some romance. Not my kind of book at all. It was obvious in the beginning. This is an awesome author who does amazing erotic and contemporary romance. This book is not my thing. Get it together audible. Not the first time you've mis labeled.
