What is addiction recovery?
This is battling the hardest battle you will ever fight; it’s living with a sort of demon inside you, and that demon is trying to convince you with all its power to pick up that pipe again or that drink or inject that needle!
People who battle addiction recovery also must battle people’s reactions to them. People shun them because they don’t understand what addiction really is. People hear the word “addict”, and they suddenly think the worst of a person. I often ask them what they would do if you were in the “addict's” shoes. Then I silently wait for answers.
