About this listen

"My human prisoner wants freedom. There's only one way she'll get it: marry me."

The alien lord holding me prisoner is the most powerful being I've ever encountered. A winged immortal who can kill with a mere wave of his hand. He's arrogant and alien. Demanding and dangerous. Brutal, even beautiful, though I hate him too much to admit it.

He hates me, too. But even though my captor despises me, he needs me. He requires a bride for political reasons, and he makes me an offer I have no choice but to accept. Marry him, play the part of his happy wife, and he'll give me the one thing I want most—my freedom.

Inside our fake marriage, hate turns into something else. Something dark and strange and needy. I don't recognize my treacherous body, and as I slide further into my husband's deadly grasp, I fight him with everything I have.

He can have my vow. He can even have my desire. But if I let him get his claws into my heart…

He will never let me go.

Beautiful yet conflicting

Story excellent the only issue is that they keep repeating certain things over and over again which could’ve been edited out
definitely worth listening to our reading

Amazingly good story and narration

I ended up getting this on a whim and it was worth the credit. The narration is top tier voice acting and I will be checking out both narrators' other works.

The story is solid, but I do think some people may get a bit annoyed with both characters having repeating internal conflicting monologues. It is purposeful and for me made the characters more real/flawed. I think the scene where they come together in hate/lust is a perfect example of all their internal feelings on the situation.

Overall pretty low drama, good expansion of the universe Dax already created, with meaningful spice and a solid HEA - highly recommend.

The Best Laid Plans

I liked MMC because he was really a good, loyal guy. He did what he had to do but he wasn’t really cruel. His fascination with the MFC was eye opening for him because he found out all humans were not the same. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and just knew their little plan to get him on the council would backfire but not in the way he did. I am really impressed with the world building and look forward to the other human & gods finding their HEA. That male narrator really put his all into his performance! He was amazing!

The characters

Thank you for writing this story. The Gods are so arrogant but I guess that is what happens from living forever. I could not help but fall for Wolf. I am happy he and Tor found their love.

Great read

I love the storyline however, I felt like for as long as it was there should’ve been more happening in the book and not just about them. It took a long time just to get to part where they even liked each other. All in all it was a good book.

Solid story

The story has all the important parts, the flow and plot are good and it wraps up nicely while it leaves you interested to know what happens to the rest of the characters so you wanna look into the other books. I just wasn’t really feeling the make characters delivery. But overall nice read or listen should I say.

Loved the performance!

These actors went all out telling this story! However I wish there was closure for Shadowlands god! the ending was wrapped up to quickly and there were a few points that I assumed would be in another book. I didn't find one but overall good story and Great performance!

Disappointed 😞

There is self deprecating and then there is time to use your brain. Almost didn't finish because Wolf's continued negative attitude took away from the story in my opinion. Too much time spent on anger and bad communication 😪 Too many blank places throughout story where explanations needed to be added.

FMC is super annoying

I had to listen to this book at 1.5 speed and even sometimes at 2.0 speed. The FMC is super childish and throws tantrums like a toddler. She doesn't appear to have the intelligence or temperament of an astrophysicist. More like she quit high school to join her boyfriends travelling Rock band. She sounds like a woman who makes bad and stupid decisions every day, and is illogical to the point of downright idiot. I couldn't take it. I tried to skip most chapters.
