Publisher's summary

A lesbian romance about music, accepting the past, and embracing second chances to write a new future...

When golden girl pop star Bridget Callahan's broken engagement comes out, she heads back to her hometown for the first time in five years to write songs for her next album. And maybe while she's there, she'll finally be able to face the woman she left behind - who she never let go.

Bar owner Alex Marlow has spent the past five years mending her broken heart by pretending she doesn't have one. But Bridget's return disrupts her ordered life and brings all those chaotic, buried feelings back to the surface. Can they forgive each other and themselves for mistakes made when they were younger?

Contains mature themes.

Was okay

Storyline was good. though Alex's character is so confusing Brigitte. Alex seem like a winny baby and never wants to take a chance in life. Would rather throw something Good in life away than try. Got very annoyed and lost interest quickly. This put me to sleep. Not happy with that. Narrator did a good job.

Sweet !

That was very sweet and heartwarming, tho I parts frustrating do to the communication teeth grinding issues… I felt for Alex with holding so much in … so hard and heavy to not express and presume and be so set in giving up and not trying. It was nice in the other hand to see certainty and persistence , which is a good balance to help with fear. My emotions were definitely engaged in this story. Could have used a bit more details in dealing with the issues and a little more “descriptive spice” , but overall it was good a worth the time!

That’s why we have psychologists

What a waste of energy. I always hope educated people would realize that you always need help. I felt this was a whole story based on a flawed premise.

Second-Chance Romance

A nice second-chance romance for Alex and Bridgette. I loved how each chapter started out with a flashback of their past relationship, then continued in the present. Most of the story is about going through the pain of their past, and neither of them sure they could ever move on from it. Very emotional, but a beautiful story 🥹🥰

Sweet Second Chance

An enjoyable second chance love story with little angst. Loved that both leads had equally balanced storylines and seemed like down-to-earth people. Also a great amount of secondary characters to help reunite the leads in a HEA. Melissa Moran is an excellent narrator.

Always a Love song

A great story of young love and how life changes and people change. It doesn't mean the end. Nothing stays the same in a relationship.

A story where love happens against all odds

Well I think this story was a little heartache of things that made no sense. It was good to just try and believe it and feel the whole romantic feelings surging through the story. It was good, in a romantic fantasy kinda way, because this story right here is the epitome of things that would never ever happen.

The story is a sweet 2nd chance romance about a selfish weak blonde and a brunette who seems to contradict herself and her character at all points in the book. Once upon a time the two had a sweet relationship but when things turned hard the blonde left, leaving the brunette heartbroken. 5 years later the blonde is a very successful music star and the brunette is a successful business owner. With the stress of not having to go through hard times together, they finally get the chance to work things out.

What does it say about a person when they leave during a really hard time in the relationship? It might just be my opinion but being 23 vs 28 isn't too much of a difference and the whole excuse of "we were young" is kinda stupid. Also, if every person could just drop their years of anger at will, I'm pretty sure 90% of the world's problems would be nil. You know, I probably wouldn't pick up the phone too if my ex girlfriend left without a word and moved to another state. Yet the brunette still sees that she's the epicenter of every goddamn problem in this story and my god is it just so freaking annoying. There has to be a give and take in these types of novels to make them work even though it makes 0 sense.

For the love of god, do people actually think like this? This whole story shouldn't even work! It's like a pitiful attempt at trying to be dramatic at the expense of good character development, but all it accumulates to is poor story telling and hateful characters. I hated Bridget because her dumbass left during a hard time and all her "reasons" were retarded and every attempt to justify them made me want to wring the characters neck. I was first sympathetic toward Alex but halfway through the book I started to hate her too. Why? Because, all her reasons to be mad were completely and utterly justified but the author turns her anger into guilt about being the cause of the relationship going badly, my god, it's like the author's never met a real person before.

If you like a sickeningly sweet romance novel with completely un-real characters and a cast of side characters that are bipolar, please pick this gem up. It will brighten your day because at least in this world, things will always work out.

Corny But Beautiful

This was such a heartwarming story that made my heart swell with love. It was frustrating as they were constantly struggling, but I was patient, knowing things would work out and love would win.

A beautiful love story with it own musical soundtrack

Imagine a warm chocolate croissant, a song that brings you a tear and laughter and the perfect cup of coffee to go with all of it. That is this book- a big warm fuzzy coupled with some self discovery and growth! You CAN listen to this with friends and relatives who can finally return the favor, since we’ve all watched or listened to hundreds of heteronormative stories. To be clear, nothing too spicy but lots of warmth. And you can listen to this while traveling, shopping and cleaning without too much thigh clenching interference. The writer employed a creative device of going back and forth between the past and present as a means to understanding these characters and their relationship. The narration was great! You will enjoy this!

Sweet 2nd Chance

I thoroughly enjoyed this first offering from Charley Clarke and look forward to future works. It’s a sweet second chance romance with a lovely cast of supporting characters. I felt like I wanted more of the story in a few places, but there were no glaring plot holes. I also feel the other reviews have been completely unfair.
IMHO the author did a great job of telling a story about how two people can love with everything they’ve got but still somehow mess it up, and the humility needed to own your choices.
