About this listen

Is a lost love ever really gone? A beautiful, small-town lesbian romance about broken hearts, hope, and second chances.

After her father's death, property developer Chloe Roberts has only one goal: to renovate and sell the old family house as quickly as possible so she never has to return home ever again. The last thing she expects is to run into Amy Edwards, the first woman she ever loved.

Dairy farmer Amy is deeply shaken by Chloe's sudden reappearance. Burnt bridges from bad teenage decisions still fill her with regret. What if she reaches out, though? Just a little? Can some bridges ever be saved?

As the childhood friends grow closer, old feelings start to resurface. Should those old, aching wounds be left in the past, along with all the mistakes they might only repeat? Or should the women again risk their hearts trying to conquer the distance between them—one last time?

Contains mature themes.

Wrong Book Title

Not that I have ever written a novel myself but for what it's worth the story reflects more on the theme of " found because of love". Without doing a spoiler here, there were many things in the story that title can pertain to.
The story kind of just rolls along. Like watching wheat move with the wind in gentle waves, very relaxing. Love scenes were great. Outside influences were lovely and typically annoying at times. This is the first time I've listened to anything by Rachel Sommers. Her name will not be tossed in the never ever again basket. I did enjoy the narration.

I just kept listening

I can’t say this is my favorite book ever, but it’s my first by this author and won’t be my last. Well done on the narration, except the Mexican accent sounded a little on the Irish brogue side. It was somewhat predictable, but I liked the almost passing ships at the end. Overall an enjoyable listen. I, as usual lately, skipped over a lot of the sex scenes and don’t feel I missed anything important to the story or the character development.

Too much manufactured angst

I love stories of people falling in love. I do not care for spoiled people with terrible communication skills and plenty of options manufacturing problems, however. This book was heavy on privileged people making up problems with a little romance on the side. It was steamy in some places and that redeemed it a little.

Poorly done

The author seems to have attempted to make the scenery a character, which is a good thing to do, but she failed miserably. There were other author mistakes, almost as of this were her first book and the editor in a rush. Perhaps it was the reader lacking pauses. She wasn't doing s good job with any of it. Combined, it was painful. I wanted a book with a rural setting and a farmer. What I got was a lot of wincing and confusion. Returning this one for a refund.
