About this listen

The skies of the Dark Continent teem with ravening beasts. Thousands of refugees are at the gates of Foreston seeking salvation from a mysterious scourge.

The Wastes are infested with herds of bloodthirsty necromorphs that devour every living thing in their path. A Dark Gateway has opened in the Stone Forest, allowing a horde of otherworldly monsters to come flooding through.

Adversaries from time immemorial are gathering armies and amassing forces. Ancient enemies are forming alliances. The world of the Great System stands once again on the precipice of change. A new war is coming.

I really enjoyed this book. this book at first felt like we were moving towards the conclusion and it all seemed to feel too easy but the twists and turns that made so much logical sense for how the character came to his position at the end of this book really came together well and didn't just feel like a forced continuation like some authors do to keep a popular series around.

well done

I have enjoyed the series and have rated them all as 5 stars, but almost ranked this one at 3 stars.

Not because the story wasn't good, but rather the gradual change in the MC. He fights and scraps and out wits people, and beats those that under estimate him. Yet this book he finally became too arrogant. Despite being a 0 he thinks he is rhe best and gets too bloated on his ego. He blatantly flaunts his power thinking he is amazing despite having 1000s f less less to level and grow. He could have easily fled, but instead stays and fights to stoke his own ego, and instead of running still uses A Dark spell which gets him kicked out of the order likely screwing over everybody in the process.

A let down

but why did you have to end it on a cliffhanger now I'm gonna be waiting forever to know what us happening next

This book was great! I definitely recommend this series it’s a great book all the way through.

Great

The absolute arrogance of the MC is off-putting. He's condescending to kids his own age who were just as tortured as he was. He also freed peons/slaves and wanted them to find their own way home in an area where death was certain. He openly admitted that they wouldn't make it but also tries to take credit for freeing them. "Be grateful, if not for me, how would ever have had the chance to die in this hellhole?" Okay bud.

I'm done with this series because of this book specifically. It was the most boring and most frustrating.

Arrogance

The main character has just become too op. There is no real struggle to anything he does. I couldn't even finish this one.

Lazy

Up until the last few chapters, I was ready to give 3 stars to this story as a forgettable installment in a forgettable series.

Then, the author has to go and use one of my most hated tropes in a ham fisted attempt to add drama and force a “cliff-hanger” at the end.

I can’t say more without spoilers, but I went from being happy the book was almost over, so I could move on to the next one, to being so annoyed with the author that I am not sure I will bother with the next book.

I need a break from this story for now.

3 stars… until that “ending”

There are no real power increases, none of the level 0 taking down monsters 20-30 levels higher and being given something cool, and almost zero action until the very end. Of course, that’s right when the author chose to end the story… I’ve supported and loved every book, but less than 10 hours and an abrupt ending with zero closure of the Arbiter story arc??? That sucked. The abrupt ending sucked. Starting to feel a little cash grabby...

Not enough this time….
