I mean, all I have to do is learn how to navigate xianxia politics and train for battle while simultaneously running my farm and uncovering an ancient cataclysm that apparently destroyed the Azure Hills back in the day.

Meanwhile, I'm about to be a father . . . Man, I'm kinda screwed, aren't I? At least I can call in the cavalry—ahem, poultry—to help.

First off, I really like this series and will get the next book in the series as soon as it’s out.


Second, this is my least favourite in the series so far, as it felt like a string of snapshots or still-life’s used to move the story along to the next book. The writing and story is still worth getting but the main meat of the book is spread thin among all the small happenings that could have been cut into 3-4 chapters in my opinion, hence the 4 star review.


I’m left with the feeling of having seen a series of trailers and still waiting for the movie to start.


The narration is as usual top notch. Travis doesn’t miss a beat.

Every other form of entertainment was dropped immediately once this released.

This is, so far, my favorite series of Books ever. It’s not super sophisticated, but that’s not really the theme here; The story is like a Good (Chicken) noodle soup: Warm, comforting, relaxing, with just the right amount of salt and spice.

Travis Baldree also brings extra life and joy to the story.

I’m just sad whenever each story ends, but glad it’s available to listen to whenever I want.

Greatly anticipating the next book in the series, as always!

An excellent continuation of the story, though it really only covers a little less than nine months. It just answers some lingering questions from the first three books. The only downside to this book is that it really did not cover much of what was set up at the end of the last book. This entire book felt like the downtime between stories arcs. This book contains many short scenes that are just lead-in for future books.

Although this volume felt more like a filler/catch up in the story, as there wasn't much major progression - it is setting up the landscape for further cultivation.
