About this listen

Beyond the borders of the Protectorate
Beyond the eyes of the Royal Martian Navy
Beyond the reach of the Mage-Queen
Innocents cry out for help - and Mars will answer!

When the Royal Martian Navy moved against reports of piracy in the Fringe Systems, the last thing Mage-Commander Roslyn Chambers expected was to find was a malignant remnant of the defeated Republic of Faith and Reason.

Now the Royal Martian Navy knows their enemy and their Mage-Queen has charged them to bring the First Legion, conquerors of the hidden colonies beyond the Fringe, to justice. The Legion knows the RMN’s tricks, though, and has cleverly concealed their tracks.

As Chambers and the spy Kelly Lamonte sweep distant stars for the trail of their enemies, the fleets of Mars gather behind them - but the fate of millions may lie in the hands of a woman none of them have ever met.

A woman the Republic already killed.

Book ended way too soon

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Takes its place behind Honor Harrington, schooled in magic, lost fleet. I think it also has a lot of potential to grow.

This is now my fourth favorite series

Thank you Glynn Stewart for writing this outstanding story. Chambers finds out what the Republic of Faith and Reason did to the Jump Mages and its worse than feared.

Thank you Jeffrey Kafer for narrating this story.

I really wish I didn't buy this whole series before reading some of the books. By this book, the forced wokeness is too much. Everyone is gay and it's all built around women. Also, the determined sexualization of everyone is very in your face. It's full of gender ideology. The story isn't getting any better either. The author went wrong when he got away from writing about Dameon Montgomery. It's stupid. Don't waste your time on this poor work.

Getting Worse

Good continuation of the story. But the author's creepy fascination with the interworkings of polyamorous "family" relationships and main characters' casual promiscuity is becoming a real distraction in this series. Hopefully the author will get back to writing good Sci-Fi.

Too many creepy "nontraditional" families being normalized
