About this listen

Determination. Predestination. Redemption.

Aryc Tal Venn was supposed to be the savior of the universe. But a fateful decision left him blighted, unable to cultivate the primal Aether into the life-empowering energy of the Quintessence. With nothing but hope, Aryc undertakes a desperate quest to reverse his blighting.

Yet the way is not easy and there are those on Crucible who covet Aryc’s lost power. Those who will do anything to take it for themselves. Despite the dangers, Aryc must fight.

But when a terrible truth challenges everything he believes, Aryc is forced to question whom he fights for and why. Destiny comes for Aryc Tal Venn, and the fate of the universe rests in his hands.

Narration: nothing much to say here. I mean, it's fucking Nick Podehl what more could you ask for?

Story: the story was overall very enjoyable. I particularly like the insights in to the other "side" if you will. Love seeing things in different perspectives.

One minor complaint is the flow seems a little all over the place at times. On the bright side this means a great deal happens and there is not much, if any, "filler"

Aside from that, looking forward to the next.

A great continuation

Enjoy this story. It has developed nicely and Nick Podehl narration spot on as always.

So good

The waiting for the second story for a long time I have to say I was not disappointed at all I had to recommend just need to both back to back

Heck of a ride

For some reason “Dwighted’s” (not sure how they spelled the name) voice changed to a girl voice right off the bat after it was a deep male one for not any real reason. It was pretty inconsistent because it would go back to male at times. It’s kind of annoying because you get use to a voice and when it’s different you pause to think who is talking

Still good but the mind construct voice was inconsistent

A very well done second installment. Highly recommend this if you've started with the first. Interesting developments through the book keep it fresh and flowing. The MC definitely has to overcome adversity and he keeps growing for good character growth.

Great continuation!

I've been really looking forward to this second book. And, while it's ok, it definitely feels like it could have been longer, more of the character interactions could've been fleshed out, and the pacing made more smooth. It's only ok when it could have been really good or even spectacular.

Solid. But not fleshed out enough

I was excited to see the new book after the first entry was pretty good but the constant doubt, self blaming and questioning led me to not enjoy this book. Hopefully the next is better…

Weak lead character gets old…

Way to much self pitying it's getting old. I dont like him and at all. Get over it and move on....

main character emo much....

there are a few format issues, sections where lines repeat.

this might be nitpicking but if you are going to use a word like apotheosis repeatedly spell it correctly, every writing software I've ever seen has a spellcheck function. I doubt Nick Pohdel would mispronounce it, if it were spelled correctly. I suspect the author spelled it "apothosis"

but that's all minor annoyances, this book accomplishes nothing. The plot crawls, the entirety of this book is the MC trying to undo the ramifications of his last action at the end of the last book, (and constantly whining about it).

We get introduced to some new characters, a few have names worth remembering. First new person we meet is attractive and hostile, obvious fast track enemies to lovers trope. there is a ton of exposition and a training montage and that one guy who talked to the MC a couple times and seemed nice is dead everyone is devastated, except for the listener who doesn't care because he had like two pages of content.

Honestly pretty disappointed

half a book at best
