About this listen

My father always said fear was a weakness. Well, that's easy to say when you don't have to worry about vampire slayers or holy water. I hate fear, but undead life goes on. In the two months since I was attacked in the hospital morgue and turned into a vampire, I've killed my evil sire, Cyrus, fallen in love with my new sire, Nathan, and have even gotten used to drinking blood. Just when things are finally returning to normal (as normal as they can be when sunlight can kill you) Nathan becomes possessed. And then he slaughters an innocent human.

Now it's my job to find Nathan before the Voluntary Vampire Extinction Movement does, because they're just waiting for an excuse to terminate him and anyone foolish enough to help him. But it gets worse. It turns out that Nathan's been possessed by one of the most powerful and wicked vampires alive: the Soul Eater. And who knows what vile plan he's concocted?

With the Soul Eater and my possessed sire on the loose, I have a lot to fear. Including being killed. Again.

Don't miss the rest of the Blood Ties series, including Book One, The Turning, Book Three, Ashes to Ashes, and Book Four, All Souls' Night.©2007 Jennifer Armintrout (P)2007 Audible, Inc.

Better than the first book

I read my review for the first book and I am surprise I got the second and third book. Its an easy listen and kept my attention while working around the house. I have to say the storyline is a little more interesting in this book but still a lightweight storyteller.I've gotten use to the reader and even like her now. There were so many complaints about her they changed the reader for book 3 & 4. Hope it pans out.

took a while, but it was good

What did you love best about Blood Ties Book Two?

I like the mix of possession, vampire and werewolf story lines. The bad "A" vampire, becoming the not so bad "A", love broken and forbidden love being explored.

Have you listened to any of Elenna Stauffer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She narrated book 1. I think she did a great job of performing each character's personality.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The exchanges be Max and Bella were funny.

This is a great series. I am really enjoying the story of Carrie and how she's interacting with the other characters that are introduced.

This book had it all: funny, sad, and all in between.

not as good as the first

I was so excited about this book when i saw that it had come out because I liked the first in the series but this one was good but left you hanging not like the first book, I didn't' like the outcome of this book at all, would i lisson again or bie the next book yes but I expected a bit more of the ending than what I got that is the only reason I gave this a three,
Heather

The first one was better

This book was good enough to move on to the third book. I really expected more. I was afraid it would just be an intermediary book that really went no where and it was. In the end, I was really glad I read it. She captured the essence of the characters' struggles and segued nicely into the next book. These books read like vampire books, not romance novels. Some other authors I've read have little more than mushy emotional nonsense with fangs. I am really impressed with this author's ability to build complex and likeable characters. An author has succeeded when he or she generates an emotional response. She was successful.

Blood Ties Book Two: Possession

Second in Jennifer Armintrout’s contemporary vampire series, Possession, was read by Elena Stauffer. First, Elena did a good job. She has a pleasant tone, natural inflection and good pacing. She made the book enjoyable to listen to.

A blend of perspectives, Carrie, Max and Cyrus; I most enjoyed Cyrus, once vicious, uber-evil, much feared vampire, now resurrected mortal, as he regained his humanity. I felt his confusion, his fluctuating between monster and remourseful man was well done. One would assume he’d be conflicted.

Max, Nathan’s closest friend, was fun, and rather sexy in a thwarted bad boy kind of way. His mission, find Nathan, before the gorgeous female werewolf assassin did. His problem, beyond Nathan’s situation, was that the assassin wasn’t falling for any of his attempts at distraction, and to make matters worse, he wasn’t able to seduce or joke his way into her good graces. Poor Max.

As for Carrie’s part. Yes, she was the protagonist, but I found some of her adventure was a little pointless, especially in the face of Cyrus’ inner turmoil and Max’s sexual/humorous misadventures. I would have liked to have seen her encounter more resistance, or something... I did appreciate her ongoing love/hate feelings toward Cyrus and Nathan though. Anyone would find her situation gave them mixed signals.

To summarize. One could read this as a stand alone I suppose, although, having enjoyed Blood Ties - Book One: The Turning so much I would suggest they be read in order.

I also intend to pick up Book Three: Ashes to Ashes when it's released. I hope you try and enjoy this series as well.
