Publisher's summary

Cam Folde will shake the very fabric of creation... or see all his hopes turn to ash.

The son of the town drunk, Cam never figured on letting his family name hold him down. He always strove to dream bigger, to fight for something better, to achieve more than what everyone else expected of him.

But, as they say, “once a Folde, always a Folde,” and when a decision to rescue a friend leads to disaster, fortune’s favor is lost. Cam spirals away from his dreams and ambitions; his fall finally ending at the bottom of a bottle.

But all hope is not lost. Cam rises, supported by family and friends. And when a powerful Master of Ephemera offers him a chance to walk the Way into Divinity and achieve redemption, Cam seizes the opportunity.

All he has to do is survive the Ephemeral Academy, the very school where the next generation of Masters are trained. There, Cam just might achieve the greatness he's always sought, and with friends at his side, including an irrepressible Awakened panda, it even seems possible.

But Cam will soon discover that the Way into Divinity is as steep as it is arduous, and there are more fearsome things than humans who brave its perilous climb...

I had fun

So this isn’t the best written fantasy. But it wasn’t actively bad. It was fun. Part of this was the two main characters (Pan and Cam) have names that sound very similar.

The end dragged out a bit, but it is very clear it is acting as world-building and the first part of a series. I’ll be getting another of his books, so take that for what it is.

Nice action/fantasy

This book had a pretty good pace and I really liked the voice actors accents used. I already have book 2 on pre-order!

VERY LONG HARD INTRO

This book, unlike Ashuras other series in this universe, has about 4.5 hours of brutally boring introduction. The book could’ve started at hour 3, and the only thing that would change is more people would still be engaged, and not regretting a credit lost.

Baldree as always is a complete and total BEAST!

What an Epic adventure

First, Thank You Davis Ashura for inviting us into his world of fantasy again. The way he draws you in and keep you there imagining the experience's of the main characters is a gift that i am glad he shares with us.

Second, Thank you Travis Baldree. Your narration is a notch above many. Your vocal inflections allow the listeners to feel the story on a deeper level throughout the array of voices you use for the different characters.

Now Getting on with the story. If you have gotten to read or listen to Ashura's' past works you know his writing style. He stays true to that within this story as well.

We follow a young man named Cam. Getting to experience his screw ups as well as the fashion he over comes them. when he hits his lowest point and how he decides to overcome. After he leaves his home town and begins his Journey forward he meets Pan, a panda person. I am going to be honest I want a "Pan" in my life, he is that kind of infectious. We follow Cam and Pan as they Journey to the the Ephemeral Academy. His stay there is filled with trials but through tenacity Cam doesn't "Folde" He meets the team he will train with and begins tightening his bonds with them as they strive to reach divinity.

I Enjoyed the adventures throughout the book and cant wait to hear the adventures to come. This book was an excellent listen, much as the rest of Davis Ashura's' books are and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to go on an epic fantasy.

Does not disappoint!

Another great adventure. I wasn't sure at first if this would connect to the other Ashura worlds. It does, but you don't need to read them to enjoy this one. I love the MC. His flaws and struggles are so real and well-written.
Narrator is one of the best and is fantastic here, but I do miss Nick P, who narrated all the other Ashura novels.
I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Good Read.

I loved the book and can't wait for more of Cam's story. My only critique is that while I do love books narrated by Baldree, the pronunciation differences between him and Podehl on a few of the names was a little jarring. other than that, i enjoyed the book.

Loved it

Narrated by the great Baldree. Weak mc who doesn't give up and overcomes challenges. What is there not to like? I basically finished it in 2 days. I'm excited to see where Ashura takes this.
