About this listen

The power of ancient gods is programmed within him.

Slip doesn’t buy it, though. The Sci-gods took everything from him. They dropped a bomb that reduced his home to waste, his family to dust, and left him broken with no hope for vengeance. Now he’s just a lone cyborg digging through scraps for his next meal.

That changes when a rebel assassin stalks Slip, eager to unlock the untapped potential hidden deep within him—his unique connection to the A.I. in his head. With nothing left to lose, he accepts the invitation to duel for upgrades to his tech, created by the very ones who destroyed his life: the history-obsessed Sci-gods.

Thrust into his new reality, Slip will be forced to choose an allegiance of old—Roman, Greek, Egyptian, or Norse—to fight in the arena for gifts bestowed by ancient deities and ascend from the futile depths of the fields to the glory of a hailed champion.

Here begins the chase for retribution and the search for the power to slay gods.

Cybernetic Mayhem

The Infinite Spear, by author Marc Mulero, is an interesting mix of human cyborgs, cyborg gods and gods of many pantheons. The foundation is there for a fantastic stories to come. Slip, the protagonist, is a hard character to like, which I’m not sure it that was the case or I as the reader just didn’t accept him. Still. Gods vs versus cyborgs in gladiator battles. Great fights! Mouthy MC.

The world building and fight scenes are top notch. The MC is mouthy. I guess it was done on purpose, but it's annoying at first. He gets better later. Overall it's a great book.

An interesting concept, just just shallowly executed

The idea of cyborg gladiators, fighting to be noticed by Ancient mythological gods is awesome. However everything just feels so shallowly delved into, from the characters and their growth (or lack there of), to the world they inhabit, and the power system as a whole. Combat seems staggered when the combatants twirl around to hit “combo orbs” in order to attack each other. If these combo orbs weren’t there, the fights would definitely feel more fluid.

A very immersive experience

I found myself very immersed in this story, its characters and the overall presentation of this exciting world. You can tell that Mr. Mulero has a soft spot for the fantasy genre in how the many themes and plot points of this world blend together seamlessly. Excellent story & narrator does a great job. Highly recommend!!

Excellent Sci-fi fantasy!

The world-building is excellent. Marc does a great job of creating a believable and immersive world. The different cultures and factions are well-developed, and the technological advancements are both interesting and believable.
The narrator is fantastic. He does a great job of bringing the characters to life, and his voice is engaging and easy to listen to.
The main character, Slip, is well-developed. He is a complex and relatable character, and his journey is both exciting and emotionally satisfying.
Overall, The Infinite Spear is an excellent audiobook. It is a fast-paced, action-packed story with well-developed characters and a rich world. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys science fiction or fantasy audiobooks.

great mix of Sci and fantasy

I particularly enjoyed this audibook. I prefer audiobooks to listen to while I'm at work, and this one was very well performed. In addition, I rather enjoyed the story. As a fan of both sci-fi and fantasy, I enjoy the mix of genres, especially when the stories are compelling and have great characters. Infinite spear hits those points. I'd suggest to anyone that likes those to give it a shot. At this point I've listened and read a few of Mulero's books and he has a very specific style which I also enjoy. It's very reminiscent of video games.

it's pretty good

I don't like the Drusilla, I'm sure she serves a purpose . that's probably the feeling the author wants us to evoke. anyway my hang up aside it's a good book, puts me in the mind of the iron prince.

Fights and worldbuilding 5 BIG STARS.

I love the story and the world. The only issue I had in the beginning was how mouthy the MC was. But by the end, I was rooting for him big time. If you like cybernetic weapons and gladiator-type arenas, this is the story for you.
