About this listen

Bodily Harm opens with a big win for Sloane and his new partner, Tom Pendergrass, in a medical malpractice case centered on the death of a child. But on the heels of this seeming victory, an unlikely character – toy designer Kyle Horgan – comes forward to tell Sloane that he’s gotten it all wrong. Horgan’s the one who’s truly responsible for the little boy’s death and others – not the pediatrician Sloane has just proven guilty.

Ordinarily, Sloane might have dismissed such a person as a crackpot, but something about this case has troubled him from the start - something he couldn’t quite pinpoint. When Sloane tries to follow up with Horgan, he finds the man’s apartment a shambles - ransacked by unknown perpetrators. Horgan has vanished - seemingly without a trace. Together with longtime investigative partner Charles Jenkins, Sloane reexamines his client’s son’s death and digs deeper into Horgan’s claims, forcing him to enter the billion-dollar, cutthroat toy world. As Sloane gets closer to the truth, he trips a wire that leads to a shocking chain of events that nearly destroys him and takes from Sloane more than he ever thought he could possibly lose.

To get to the bottom of it all and find justice for the families’ harmed, Sloane must keep in check his overwhelming desire for revenge. Full of nail-bitingly tense action scenes as well as edge-of-your-seat courtroom drama, Bodily Harm finds Robert Dugoni at the very top of his game.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The suspense, twists and turns, and great character development makes this one of the best books out there. The narrator is absolutely phenomenal! The emotions and voices he uses for the different characters is truly amazing and really makes listening that much more enjoyable. I loved it!

Dan Miller reads all female parts as if they are whiny and weak....regardless of the author's words

great story, but change the narrator

I always learn something each and every time I listen to one of Robert Dugoni's books. a great book and shows you the dedication one person has not only to keep others and their children safe from defective toys so that a toy manufacturer can make mega profits but also on a personal level how love and dedication to a wife and family remains despite cruel tragedies.

Great Read

Characters did not step out of what made sense for their personalities.
Story was tight, and I found only a few oddities -- not worth noting.
At no point did I say, "why would you open the doors? Why would you do THAT?" meaning the author did not use any cheap tricks to keep the suspense, and it as a page turner!
Many unexpected turns that most authors would not have the guts to use but which most likely might happen with such terrible characters. Also, violent descriptions were just enough to let you know, without wallowing in gory.

AA couple of times I had trouble keeping up with who was who but I am listening to this as i work in a finish room so that may have been me -- I backed it up tho, the book was that good.

I don't want to say more. I bought this on sale and am off to see what else he has written.
