About this listen

A fate worse than death . . .

Bastien Cabarro survived the brutal slaughter of his entire family only to have his wife pin their murders on him. Made Ravin by The League, he is now a target for their assassins-in-training to hunt and kill. The average life expectancy for such beings is six weeks. But defying the odds is what this Gyron Force officer does best, and Bastien won’t rest until he lays his betrayers in their graves.

Ten years later, he has one chance to balance the scales of justice, provided he relies on his former wingman— the very sister of the woman who testified against him.

Major Ember Wyldestarrin joined the outlaw Tavali the day Kirovar fell into the hands of a tyrant, and she and her sister-team were left on an outpost to die under the barrage of enemy fire. The last thing she wants is to be involved in politics again. But the one thing she wants more than anything is revenge on the tyrant who murdered her parents and forced her and her sisters into exile. Carrying a secret she knows Bastien will annihilate her over, she must find some way to trust her former wingman before he catches on and kills her. Even so, treachery doesn’t come easy to a woman who took a loyalty oath to protect her homeworld and comrades-in-arms, especially when Bastien is much more to her than just a former wingman.

Yet as she tries to do right for her family, she learns that Bastien doesn’t just hold the key to the fate of Kirovar, he is vital to The Sentella-League war, and to The Tavali. If she doesn’t ensure he survives this mission, three nations fall, and time for all of them is quickly running out.

"Listening to Berman tell this story, one is transported to the future in an outer space full of action and intrigue." - AudioFile Magazine

"...listeners will be riveted from beginning to end with narrator Fred Berman's dramatic presentation. Warning -- readers will be left with a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them looking eagerly toward the next installment of the life and times of Bastien Cabarro and his life-mate Ember Wyldestarr. This parallel world is so expertly created, I do not doubt its existence.
It has all the necessary ingredients to keep the suspense and drama going full throttle from start to finish, with no lag time. I am so glad I started listening the Audiobook over the weekend, so I could listen all the way through at one sitting. I really wanted it to last longer, but I was too eager to experience it all.

I love the way the stories Born of Legend and Born of Vengeance are aligned together without being repetitive. Instead I am not only given another perspective, but I get to visit with Julien and his new branch of family and friends. The bonus story at the end was an added delight.

The narrator Fred Berman, remain superb.
Each emotion or personality was effortlessly conveyed whether from an adult, child, male or female character.

This book was well worth the wait. I loved it to the last decibel.

I am a Believer.

His character portrayal is excellent! He brings each character alive and I feel so connected to all of them. This particular story had a little too rehashing in it, but Fred portrayed each character as I remembered them. I want more!

I love Fred Berman

Could listen to him all day! He is so expressive and coherent. Does a wonderful job of using his voice to emphasize the emotion of each character.

Love the way the characters are expanded & grow from one book to the next. Just like people, each character has good & bad traits that make the a whole person.

Great!

Just as phenomenal as a Sherilyn Kenyon book is expected to be, another one well written!

Phenomenal

I love the League books, but this book suffers from the same issue her Dark-Hunter series suffers from, reusing old content in new books, to reduce work. This book covers scenes from many of the older books, especially Born of Legend, and usually not in a good way, just in a lazy way.

Not very original

the only complaint I have is that it wasn't longer! Kenyon is amazing as always! amazing stories! the worlds and characters she creates are the best! she always makes you feel like you are right there with them! Fred Breman is the best narrator! no one else needs to narrate Kenyon's books!

kudos kenyon!

This is one of my favorite series yet, I love that there are so many. You really get a chance to know each of the characters and why they are the way they are.

Sooo good!
