About this listen

Summer nights can be full of surprises.

As a single, unemployed, and unapologetic twenty-five-year-old mess, I came to the Hamptons this summer for one reason—to focus on myself and work out my quarter-life crisis. I didn't come here planning to sneak into a private party and meet a handsome stranger.

I definitely didn't come here expecting that stranger to be Preston Rhodes—billionaire and superstar quarterback for the Manhattan Mambas.

And that's not even the crazy part.

He asked me to be his pretend girlfriend for a week while his family was in town. He needed a date for his sister's wedding, and I'd never turn down the opportunity to be spoiled by a rich man.

The only thing is Preston's not very good at pretending.

Now, instead of discovering myself, I'm spending the week discovering what life would be like with him. Instead of focusing on me, I'm focusing on how he looks at me, how he touches me, how he wants me.

Now that neither one of us is faking it, I only hope that we can hold on to what we have through the bright lights and summer nights.

From the author who brought you Black Ties and White Lies and Pretty Rings and Broken Things, comes an all-new standalone in the Black Tie Billionaires Series. Bright Lights and Summer Nights is a billionaire, fake dating, sports romance. It is Emma's book and a complete standalone. It is the third and final book in the series.

Some spoilers nothing crazy. It could be me… actually it definitely is. The reasoning for the angst in the end….to me, is pathetic. The reasoning for the break up I guess to a 25-year-old might be considered something but to go back home to a nothing area and post interesting content ie candy salad (enough to get an nomination). to me is not feasible and I don’t quite understand why the same exact thing couldn’t be done with the love of her life next to her. Which by the way was her only quest in life which was to be loved. Instead, she needed to leave every thing behind, including her friendships in order to find herself. Ughhhh. Sorry, but this is just annoying to me and I did love all the books in the series. I even loved this one up until the unnecessary angst or maybe they just should’ve chose something different for the separation.

Very good story except the unnecessary angst….

A really fun listen—with one glaring flaw. This story was cute, charming, and kept me entertained. The angst toward the end? Completely unnecessary and not very believable, but whatever. My real issue? The female narrator’s attempt at a male voice—absolutely unbearable. It was sleazy in all the wrong ways, especially during the dirty talk. Just… no. Thankfully, the dual POV meant plenty of Preston as read by the male narrator, who didn’t make me want to crawl out of my skin. Overall, a light, enjoyable listen (minus the cringe factor).

The Female Narrator’s Male Voice was Cringe

Ok, I think we can all identify with Emma and her desire to try to figure out what she wants out of life and what she's doing. When she literally falls on Preston, it is game over for these two. Their banter is hilarious, his family is the best (shoutout Gram), and their fake dating scheme ends up being hot as hell. Preston was the perfect boyfriend and I loved how his family just welcomed her into the fold like she'd been there all along. I was very annoyed at the 3rd act breakup, BUT it was redeemed with their super sweet HEA.

Hilarious Banter!

I have adored this series and this one is no different! Preston is a green flag guy with a dirty mouth and I’m not mad about it! I didn’t know how I’d feel about Emma, because in the previous books I had mixed feelings about her. But I really liked her a lot! Their story of love, ending and new beginnings was done really well. Even thought their journey didn’t include each other, I love that Emma chose herself! That makes for one strong character!

Love Me Some Preston!

Swooned by Preston and how he is so understanding of Emma. Allowing her to find her true purpose is the ultimate grand gesture. Love what Kat did with this entire series
