About this listen

Hannah Bryson is a marine architect who's been given a fascinating assignment. A Russian nuclear submarine called The Silent Thunder has been purchased by the United States for exhibition in a museum. Hannah must create a schematic of the sub to check for hazards and design seamless modifications to make it safe for the thousands of expected visitors.

Her brother, Connor, acting as her assistant, knows how much this work means to Hannah. But Connor discovers something on the sub: a mysterious message hidden behind one of the panels. And then, in a brutal assault on the sub, Connor is murdered and the chase is on for Hannah to find her brother's killer.

Soon she discovers that she's being used as bait. And what she doesn't even realize she knows could end her life as well.

Magnificent1

I really enjoyed this read. The book was suspensful and exciting. This was my first time listening to this particular narrator and I was really pleased. She did a wonderful job and kept the book alive. I did not want to turn my MP3 player off. Job well done

AN EXCEPTIONAL BOOK

Have listened to over 250 Audible books & I rate this one as one of the best. I had no problem with the narrator who I thought did a fine job. Listen to this one, I think you will enjoy it.

Good story, comic book writing

The story moved quickly and held my interest. The writing was more appropriate to a comic book or juvenile. I was disappointed.

Delicious!

I found this one of Johansen's best works since The Search and Dead Aim. This one actually had its own plot, whcih did NOT involve torturing Eve Duncan's emotions again. The characters are far better developed and more believable than many she's written lately. I loved the submarine backdrop and how the author developed the story around it. The save-the-day maneuver at the end was cheesy, as was the iten it led to, but okay. The rest of the tale was written well enough that I didn't feel too disappointed. Hannah's facing down the Russian man and sticking to her decisions made me cheer for a strong female personality who could carry her own; she wasn't just a plot machine. More single novels like this would be a real treat.

good but not great

This book definately had some potential. I find the johansen books sometimes have a little bit of the bodice ripper type under tones. They are written by a woman and I suspect for a more female audience. Pretty good suspence and action. As always I DONT CARE about the narraration very much. A good narrator is fine but the bad ones don't get in my way. There was definately some boris and natasha type accents and as usual sometimes they confused between seargent schultz and generic russian. Odd that a woman knows SO much about submarine engineering.

Loved this book!

I listen to books on my morning walks and I found myself cheating and listening even if I was not walking. I will definitely look for more from these people.

More of the same

I absolutely LOVE Iris Johansen and all of her "Eve Duncan" books. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I was excited about reading or listening to something else by her. Unfortunately, this book has the same reader- Jennifer Van Dyke who uses the same voices and accents for all of the Eve Duncan books. While the book was very good-- it was hard to remember who was who. I kept thinking I was hearing Eve Duncan and Montalvo instead of the characters in this book.
It is a great read and like all of Johansen's books, very easy and at the same time, very engaging and edge of your seat action at times. I will probably listen again.
