About this listen

Explosive new series! From Ryan Schow, best-selling author of The Last War and The Age of Embers, comes an intense new tale of strength, survival, and patriotism. Dark Days of the After puts ordinary citizens on the front line of a domestic conflict that was never supposed to happen, one that will either unify the country or break her for good...

This is not the America you know. In the near future, the Constitution is outlawed, the government is ceremonial at best and the country is about to lose her name. No one knows how this happened, or why America prostrated herself to the kind of foreign forces who would impose obedience through compliance. Resistors call the occupation “creeping death.” Those countries grabbing at the reins of power see it for what it is - a full scale invasion.

Security engineer, Logan Cahill, is part of the underground effort to reclaim America, but when he finds a cryptic message in the world's largest server room leading to a doomsday clock, everything changes. He now knows the enemies, the weapons and the time of America’s death, right down to the minute. If he wants to survive the apocalypse, he and the feisty Skylar Madigan have to bug out fast. This won’t be easy considering the surveillance grid in place, or the armed lock-down of all major cities.

The final defensive frontier for dedicated patriots is life on the land held by their ancestors, those men and women dug into their off-grid homes and operating a black market economy. But not everyone has what it takes to survive life outside the occupied cities, and precious few know how to defend themselves against the brutality of America’s captors. All that is about to change...

Outstanding story. Chinese communist takeover.

A legitimately scary premise of a CCP takeover of the west coast. life in occupied territory is hell as American's are treated like subhuman rats. luckily, a band of unlikely bravehearts does what they can to stay strong and fight back.

Outstanding!

This author is amazing! What a thrilling book, but scary how close we are in real life to what's happening in the book.

Good but kind of odd at times

Any story plot involving the Chinese invading and taking over the United States just doesn’t seem plausible to me, but i was able to look past my cynicism related to this for the most part to enjoy the characters in the book. What I also felt was odd was the author switched (for the most part) the view of women and sex to reflect women as the ones who viewed sex as merely/mostly a physical act with, which included a woman who was a virgin and biting at the bit to loose her virginity. Then you also had the male character wanting more than just a physical
connection with whatever women he sleeps with even though they makes it clear they aren’t interested in more than sex. Uh-huh. Anyway, getting past that the storyline wasn’t half bad, but decent, worthwhile listening to or reading.

So far, so good!

BEWARE- I JUST FOUND OUT THERE'S A BOOK ZERO! NEVER HEARD OF THAT B4 & BUMMED I DIDN'T KNOW THAT B4 I HEARD BOOK 1. IT WOUOD'VE HELPED MUCH MORE MAKE SENSE! WHY A BOOK ZERO? MOST PEOPLE LOOK 1ST FOR BOOK 1! BUMMER! ANYWAY....I can't seem to get th Ed next book 2 in the series! Another BUMMER!
I love anything narrated by Kevin Pierce. This is a new type of apocalypse book, 1 where the Chinese Communist Party (different than the good Chinese people caught living under the evil regime) starts taking over parts of America & what it'd be like to live under Communism here in America (HORRIFIC! ). Any1 who thinks Socialism is OK to vote for here in America should read this book, always remembering Socialism is but 1 VERY small step away from EVIL Communism, which has killed more people than anything else in the entire world! Find out how evil it is in this book & pray America NEVER falls from being a Constitutional Republic!! We take our God-given freedoms way too lightly. Freedoms many, many Americans have died to protect! Highly recommend! this book!

No More Going Along To Get Along

Love Kevin Pierce's narration skills!

Logan Cahill has begun adjusting to the changes within him. He's no longer going along to get along hoping not to get noticed ...that is unless he chooses too, and then only for specific reasons. Skylar Madigan gets caught and painfully ushered into a different place. There she meets a new warrior. The action is intense. Love the fact that Krav Maga is integral to the story and that techies aren't portrayed as useless without a pc. The Oregon compound and it's inhabitants are becoming "more". Great read!
