About this listen

An EMP devastates the world. And the battle for survival begins…

When a powerful EMP blast knocks out power across the country, schoolteacher Molly, former Marine Colton, and the five students they’re supervising on a trip are trapped inside a prison. Surrounded by hardened criminals and with no safe exit, it doesn’t take long for a riot to throw everything into chaos.

Meanwhile, Deb, Colton’s ex-wife, is lucky enough to fall in with a group of determined survivors. But her good fortune quickly turns into a nightmare when her people are captured by human traffickers, led by a vicious madman.

Molly and Colton must escape to safety with their students, while Deb is forced to lead her fellow survivors in a daring revolt. But in this savage new world, danger lurks around every corner. Is there any hope for safety as what’s left of society collapses?

Loyalties are tested, new bonds are forged, and survival is a daily battle in this dying world.

This boxset contains books 1-6 of the Dark Nation series, a thrilling post-apocalyptic EMP saga.

I must first start by saying that this was actually my favourite story of this author so far, while I wished we had more from the point of view of the teenagers, it was a good story, I did enjoy more the first 3 books, then when the story went for Deb group and finally came together with molly and the teens, I kind of see before hand where the story was going on, and to be perfectly clear I didn’t like that part of the story, while I may be a little hypocritical saying that because I did like the tv show Mom that was quite similar… and I was hopping for a different kind of ending with different people dying (yes people, grab your box of tissues, the last book is full of good people dying, but if you want to know, get a copy and listen or read for yourself).

I really enjoyed the reading by Andrew Tell, and I must tell you, if we had also a female reading the point of view of women this would be the absolutely perfect audiobook, but I did still enjoyed Andrew job here, and will recommend this audiobook. Its almost 50 hours but well worth, and I am thankful for having the pleasure of listening to this audiobook before the end of the year.

I got a free code for Audible from booksprout, and this is my honest opinion.

Dark Nation is a six book narrative featuring a small group of individuals who form together as a family while living through an EMP disaster. The story begins with a scared straight trip to a prison and follows the group as they seek safety and adjust to the destruction of society. The characters are well developed and perfect for the audio book's unexpected twists and turns in this post-apocalyptic world. . The creative story line has suspense, intrigue, danger, violence, and strong emotions. I highly recommend this exciting audio book.

It wasn’t bad in fact I really enjoyed the first few books, but I think the author could’ve stopped especially before the last two books. There were some strange sort of wrap ups At the end of these books, there was forgiveness where I don’t know how they could’ve forgiven. And as far as the last two books go, I really don’t see a need for Carol’s story. The first half of the series felt like a Swiss family Robinson type of survival story and I kinda liked that part.

Good for the price
