Critic reviews

“Ervin’s imagination is fueled by Tolkien's sweat, Willy Wonka's blood, and Clint Eastwood's attitude. A crazy mix to be certain, but a combination that makes for amazing possibilities.” (LitRPG Audiobook Podcast)

“Exciting and hilarious! It feels like a true game with friends.” (Dueling Ogres Podcast)

“I was pulled into the world and could see the rules of the world unfold. This really does feel like a game. A fun game that I am going to have to continue.” (Casia’s Corner)

A full book credit for a 1.5 hour book.

It's a cute story, but didn't notice the length was only and hour and a half. Calling this a book in the series is a serious stretch. At most, this could be called Book 5.5. Don't waste a credit on this. Yeah, my fault for not noticing, but I would suggest that if you are interested in the story, just buy it with cash and save the credit for something worth it.

No going dutch, this is a REAL date

Oh my gosh, you won't believe how totally awesome the audiobook "Date: A LitRPG Adventure (Monsters, Maces, and Magic, Book 6)" is! Seriously, I was like, super pumped to listen to this and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint! Kirby, you rock, dude!

So, like, here's the scoop: Kirby, the coolest half-goblin ever, is going on his very first date! Can you believe it? And get this, he's not just being himself – he's in the body of his RPG character, Gurk! How crazy is that? I was like, whoa, talk about leveling up in the dating game, right?

But hold up, it's not all hearts and flowers 'cause danger decides to be a total buzzkill. There's this super vengeful danger lurking in Three Hills City, and it's all, like, coming out at night and stuff. But guess what? Kirby, aka Gurk, ain't no pushover! He's a total chivalrous hero, even if he's a half-goblin thief. You go, Gurk!

And let's talk about the narration, okay? Jonathan Waters totally nailed it! His voice was, like, the perfect fit for bringing Kirby's adventures to life. I was seriously hanging on every word, and it was like Kirby was right there, sharing his incredible journey with me. Waters, you're the bomb!

Oh man, and even though this audiobook might be, like, shorter than some, that doesn't mean it's any less awesome. Trust me, it's packed with all the excitement, action, and, like, hilarious goblin humor that Terry W. Ervin II is famous for. I was, like, on the edge of my seat the whole time, totally absorbed in the story.

And can we talk about Kirby for a sec? He's, like, my hero! I mean, seriously, he's this half-goblin with mad skills and a heart of gold. I felt like I was right there with him, cheering him on during his epic date and his epic battles. Kirby, you're the man – er, half-goblin!

So, like, if you're into LitRPG adventures with a side of romance, danger, and goblin awesomeness, you've totally gotta check out "Date: A LitRPG Adventure." It's, like, the ultimate ride, and you won't wanna miss a single moment of Kirby's epic journey. I'm, like, totally stoked for the next book – I need more Gurk in my life ASAP!

Great short story!💜

I love these characters. It’s so fun going on adventures as they learn the rules of the Monsters, Maces & Magic game.
This was a fun experience watching them stumble over themselves trying to impress their dates.
Jonathan Waters is a fantastic narrator and he really is these characters. Marigold is one of my favorite character voices. Well done.
This is book 6 in this series and I can’t wait for more.
I recommend this book/series.

Short and Enjoyable

Date is an extremely short story, set within the Monsters, Maces, and Magic realm. It feels more like a "character building" session during a longer RPG campaign. Part of me wishes it had been the first act of a longer book, because of its brevity, with the ending clearly setting up for the next volume in the series. At the same time, I also enjoy these shorter side stories, which give us a chance to watch the characters grow and develop more. This is especially true for Kirby / Gurk, the half-goblin thief, as back in the real world he was a middle-school student, and therefore much younger than his companions. And as Gurk's first date is with an NPC (non-player character) we explore once again whether they are simply parts of the game world, or are they in fact "real" people? This is something I do hope eventually gets resolved. There is also the added mystery as to who else within the realm might also be PCs (player characters) from the real world. We, the readers, have been introduced to a couple, though the main characters are oblivious to this. I do find it strange that they aren't exploring this further, instead just assuming everyone they come across is an NPC. Overall, an enjoyable read; I just wish it was part of a longer book. Jonathan Waters continues to act as "the voice" of this world through audio, which is how I recommend reading this series.

A Very Short Audible Story

This story was fun and gave a different perspective on dating and NPG characters.
How do NPG and Adventurers interact with each other, are NPG real People? Narrator does a good job with the storyline.

woke trash

It looks like the author was forced to add a preachy woke politic character and ruined the series. book 7. I only wish I could get a refund for the whole series now.
