About this listen

This is a book about men. Not all men, just emotionally unhealthy men. The ones who make you ask, "Is it him or is it me? Am I making too big a deal out of this? I try to tell him how I feel, but he says I'm overreacting or needy or it's all my fault". Relationships are hard work, but how hard should they be? When do you know you are struggling too hard to make a relationship succeed?

Deal Breakers is about getting out of this "relationship purgatory": where the present is unfulfilling and the future is the only thing you can hope for. But there is no magic future. If he won't work on problems today, it's unlikely they'll ever be resolved. And passively hoping for change will only cost you years of depression or expensive therapy.

Dr. Bethany Marshall is here to remind women that relationships, like business relationships, are deals. In the business world, a deal breaker is the one non-negotiable term that, if not agreed to, means the deal is off. But in the world of relationships, identifying your deal breaker can be much more promising, as it holds out the possibility of helping you to understand where the relationship has gone wrong, what needs to be done in order to make it better, and when to walk away because you're doing more work than him to fix it.

just buy it

if you are looking at this title/book, than perhaps the "something isn't right" feeling is within you. Oh my, this book nailed me, my attractions to Mr Do No Wrong, and Mr Man In Charge, also how I have treated some of the people in my life like a Miss Woman Do No Wrong. I have had trouble in the trying harder, collapse with in, believing "him", why would he lie?? This is a very healing, telling book. The author also has an easy voice to listen to. I have listened about 5 times now.

Needed this book years ago

I’d recommend this book to anyone who feels like they can’t get away from a certain person or certain type of person. Once you see them for what they are, it is now time to grieve and move on without them. For those who are on the fence, this book may help you see that it’s worth sticking out; and this book will help you recognize how. I loved this book and couldn’t stop listening.

Good info

I bought this for a friend of mine and decided to listen before giving her the book. It is a little confusing listening at first since it is broken into parts of good,bad..... The book makes sense of it. Once I got past the way it was being read, breaking it tnot the parts and understood it, then it was pretty good. I think that the information is really good on a whole but all relationships have a little of everything in them. Although this is a great book to finally get over the user or the relationship that sucks your self out of your life. Some people just can't quit a bad relationship no matter what and this book makes those people give it up. I think it was a help to my friend.

Clarity can be Yours!!

This by far is the Best material I have came across to date to explain why some relationships are so confusing, hurtful and just don't make sense. A must for anyone in a relationship that's got you spinning. Not only does this explain what is really going on, why it is going on but it gives very clear examples of how to deal with it and how to make good healthy choices for yourself. After listening to this the veil of illusion will be lifted so that you can see more clearly what is really going on in your relationship. Bravo - no need to read between the lines with this one.

very insightful

Even though this book focuses on the personality disorders of men, it can be applied for women as well. Very insightful and can be used to reflect on yourself to better your relationship.

What an amazing book!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book has been amazing and would recommend to people who are in a relationship or for those looking to get into one.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Deal Breakers?

The most memorable moment of this book was working out what type of person I am with. It was like a light bulb moment for me. I now have the information and the tools to better understand my partner and why we act and re-act the way we do but most importantly I know now how I can help myself.

What about Renée Raudman’s performance did you like?

I very much enjoyed the readers voice she was clear and did not have a mono tone voice that felt like your teeth were being pulled.

Any additional comments?

For those of you who have daughters and are concerned of some of the choices they are making or have made with choosing partners or the relationship is up and down this is the book for you. Great book. Thank you.

You may listen and think that women are perfect...

As with any book listen to the very end for more explanation and clarification on that.
Also, some of that inward reflection by the reader should have been more prevalent through the book. As a man I read it for that inward looking perspective. A very good book.

Must read for men and women applies to all relationships

After reading this I have more tools to understand my relationships and that deal breakers apply not only in friendships and business relationships in addition to Romantic relationships.

The interview at the end helps.
