About this listen
Benefits of mindfulness, meditation, positive affirmations, and yoga - and the evidence to back it up!
About one out of every five American adults experience a mental health condition within a given year, and the public health concern still gets shoved under the rug. Even outside of America, millions are suffering silently due to mental health conditions because they either do not have the resources to seek help, the knowledge to know if they have a condition, or are too embarrassed due to the stigma. It is no secret that standardized therapy methods and prescription medication have shown profound benefits for those who are dealing with a mental health concern. However, there are other methods that people can incorporate into their routine, which can also improve their mental health. Meditation, mindfulness, positive affirmations, and yoga are all excellent practices that will put your mind, body, and soul at ease.
In this audiobook, you will learn all about what these beneficial practices are and the specific techniques used in each practice. You will also listen about the beautiful ways each exercise can benefit those struggling with mental health issues. For example, yoga and meditation are both ancient practices that can help you reach a peaceful state of heightened awareness. In addition, yoga, meditation, and mindfulness can help those struggling with racing thoughts, generalized anxiety disorders, depression, and more. Furthermore, positive affirmations can help individuals become motivated to achieve goals they might otherwise be intimated by. I have also provided ample research-based evidence and studies to support each practice's positive mental health effects.
Most importantly, there are a plethora of myths surrounding these practices. At the end of each section, you will listen about some of the most common myths regarding each practice and why they are not valid.
Whether you are on a spiritual journey to increase your self-awareness, trying to make a positive change in your life, searching for alternative ways to cope with your mental health, or simply looking for an informative listen, you must give this audiobook a try!

Story
During the course of learning mindfulness, you may be asked to try different things. For example, you may be asked to concentrate on your breathing. A lot of people don't realize the significance of this task. The fact is that most of us don't use the lung capacity that we have because we don't need to in order to stay alive. However, when you breathe correctly, as you are taught later in the audiobook, you actually improve what's going on in your body, and systems such as the sympathetic nervous system are able to do their work more efficiently.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

Story
The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

Naysayers be gone!
So happy to see that there is finally a book to debunk all the myths surrounding meditation, yoga, and such. I've been doing these practices for years, but I'm gifting this book to my dear brother in law who still thinks I'm into Buddhism just for doing yoga- lol! Its actually a really great way to stay healthy and doesn't involve religion at all. Great read!
